Re: WP7 no removable storage, no file explorer, no usb hdd- am i missing something?

I don't really care how many rumors or confirmed statements about WP7S come out, I will not threaten to go to Android or anything else (or CERTAINLY not the Iphone's OS) until Windows 7 actually comes out. THEN I'll get to see how good or bad it is.

Even confirmed statements can change. The OS isn't even coming out until December.

Re: WP7 no removable storage, no file explorer, no usb hdd- am i missing something?

The ONLY good thing thats coming out of WP7S is the ability to stream Netflix movies on the device. I would love that being that I use that a lot on my 360, but at the same time, no way in hell would I bite the bait for that one feature. M$ failed us more than the last 3 OS updates this time around, and I don't even care if they continue developing for 6.5 or 6.5.3 or 6.6 or whatever the hell they wanna call it, I have a savings account already for the Supersonic if it drops in June like speculated.

Cannot agree with you more!
WM 7 is trying to come up ... but seems like majority of people here want to take microsoft down as they "want" there "old" Wm platform...
Is it so hard to understand that Old WM is a failure! and Microsoft needs to turn a corner if they have to remain viable in the Smartphone market!
Welcome WM 7!

Actually, you're wrong fella. The CTIA Wireless Conference starts March 22nd thru the 25th and it's the largest CDMA event in North America -- HTC, Verizon, Sprint, and our pal Microsoft all have booths and major keynote speakers include AT&T, Clearwire, and Sprint. The smart money says Sprint is announcing their first 4G smartphone (likely Android powered) for the 2010 holiday season.

What Microsoft has to announce is anyone's guess, but it's probably has something to do with Windows Phone 7 not having WIFI and Bluetooth connectivity to simplify the user experience.

What there going to have the option to change the screen size, amount of memory, and color and that's the options we have to work with. That's why Microsoft isn't backing HTC in their lawsuit like Google is.
Actually the lawsuit is for HTC Android phones only, not HTC WM phones...I mean Apple does not even see WM as a threat..their sights are on Android.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I mean look at it this way, M$ is releasing their OS end of this year which is trying to exactly mimic the iPhone strategy from years ago...I mean is their heads not working properly?

I can easily see microsoft dieing out for the following reasons.

1) Their tech community feels abandoned so many are swapping to android as they do not expect many new phones for wm.

2) They are entering the game late with last years ideas and all they are selling is their "revolutionary" UI which could probably easily be skinned into wm6.5 or android and with a snapdragon have no problems running it.(with tweaks of course)

3) Now lets look at their support manufacturers:

Dell = They have yet to release a phone...at least in US
Garmin-Asus = I doubt
HTC = Sure but I can more see them going towards android as it makes up their main community
HP = They have yet to release a phone...
LG = This is probably M$ only hope..if they bail thats it for M$
Samsung = Sure they may release a phone but they have their Bada platform too so where would their real focus be...not to mention their cortex was not approved so they may not be happy about that.
Sony Ericsson = They make their own touch screen phones? lol
Toshiba = Yeh they released a phone or 2..but have no presence in the US
Qualcomm = They don't make phone but ok

4) The price tag of those phones will be pretty darn high if I were to guess

So there goes M$

Re: WP7 no removable storage, no file explorer, no usb hdd- am i missing something?

The thing i dont understand the most about the whole thing is why Microsoft would label the platform "Windows Phone." WINDOWS? WHAT? Where is there any resemblance to Windows in any of that garbage? Windows has always been about letting the user be in control, letting them do what they want to do; if the user wants to run multiple apps and slow down the speed of the computer/phone, sure, let them do whatever, they know the consequences. If the user wants to tweak the registry, well, you could mess up your phone/computer, but you probably already knew that, so go ahead.

Give it a name anything but windows. "Microsoft Cool Phone" whatever, it doesn't matter. Just don't bring down what we all once knew and loved about Windows' phones and computers to this level of ignorance-tolerable technology (i.e. anything the likes of Apple).

F*** Windows Phone. RIP Windows MOBILE, you will always be loved and missed.

Re: WP7 no removable storage, no file explorer, no usb hdd- am i missing something?

There is no way I will be supporting this new imitation iPhone crap. I am already trying to figure out what I need to do in order to switch to Android.

Please, HTC, PLEASE, if you have any reps reading this thread- please submit it to management that we want a Touch Pro 3 running Android with T-Mobile USA 3G+.

What we know to have been confirmed already:
No installing apps outside of the app store
No multitasking
No file explorer
No directory structure
No USB flash drive
No storage cards
No 3rd party interfaces
No replacing the built in apps (like web browser)
No backwards app compatibility
Limited use of hardware keyboards

Are you kidding me? Microsoft just basically abandoned us. If I wanted an iPhone, I would have one already. I certainly wouldn't wait several years and then buy a crappy imitation.

I guess this seals it. Android is the "new WinMo" and WinMo is trying to be the "new iPhone" (or something like that). Android came in with basically the same ideas as WinMo- only they used open source software and gave it away for free. But their functionality is basically the same. And that model is working quite well for Android. Now WinMo is abandoning it and trying to be like an iPhone.

I'm sure I'll see most you guys on the other side (Android) soon.

One of you cats that is already on Android should make up a guide on how to switch from WinMo to Android. You know, with apps we'll need to get, how to get our contacts from hotmail, and all that other stuff.

Oh, and look for Apple to sue HTC or whoever releases these iPhone knockoffs. If they sued HTC for Android supposedly copying the iPhone, it shuld be real interesting to see what they do when HTC (or whoever) starts releasing these Win 7 iPhone knockoffs. I know everyone said they were really attacking Google in the lawsuit, but there is a very good chance they were really attacking MS. They didn't list any WinMo devices because they knew it was dead. They could have been trying to get the word out that they would sue any iPhone clones because they knew Win 7 was nothing but an iPhone imitation, and wanted to let everyone know in advance that they weren't cool with that. You never know...

I just use the cable. seems easier than taking the card out.
