I had a friend do this after she dropped her phone in the toilet (gotta be a lady thing) and it worked fine after a few days of drying out in the rice!
Another bad idea because the sun will create condensation inside the bag (ever hear of a solar still?) stick with the alcohol and AIR dry. no hair dryer or anything else as the electronics are very touchy.

Re: Dropped Touch Pro 2 in small puddle... help!

Thanks for the advice, I currently have the phone in the ziplock bag in rice again. we'll see if it helps. the Problem is I don't have any sort of replacement phone, (nor do I have any other method of contact) I can't go without a phone for 48 hours....

maybe I'll try and find my old moto Q, but I think that was so baddly damaged I just throw it out

Wouldn't it freeze the water into ice, which expands and would potentially do more damage? I've done the freezer trick with hard drives that over heat but never a water damaged phone although that would make awesome lookin ice cubes wouldn't it

this has to be one of the better things to do, ive done this with family members phones, and it has always worked.
This method was also published in popular mechanics and consumer reports magazines
That is how i came across it

Actually, static charge can easily be discharged and capacitors lose their charge within an hour or so.

By the time he actually finds distilled water, it should be all good, especially considering he's touching the thing.

Alcohol can do damage to certain materials within chips and processors.

It is imperative for him not to listen to you, but rather listen to me, the one who's correct. What he is essentially doing is flushing anything that can cause minerals to build up on sensitive electronic parts, and then letting the device dry naturally (not in the sun on his dash, or with a hairdryer) but naturally letting the water evaporate.

I've got friends that swear by this. A couple of friends of mine jumped into a creak (well fell in horsing around) and both had their phones on them. Razrs. One friend did as i said, the other let it dry out, and sure enough both worked fine after dry for only a little. The one who didn't soak in distilled water ended up having major issues.

We're talking about shit that over time grows or does more damage.

Maybe consider an upgrade and Sprint will buy back you TP2. Just a thought.

... Or get used to the onscreen keyboard.
