Re: have you USED android yet??
Appraising Android over Winmo in Winmo section of the forum = Epic Fail.

Re: have you USED android yet??
I really love Android and I'm a huge supporter, but I have been and still am a big WinMo fan as well. I use the TP2 but my gf has the Hero and I love it. Her phone just does things faster than mine. Period. The only thing I don't like about it is the keyboard...ugh.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why HTC decided to leave out the physical keyboard on their android devices. I was all over the hero when it first came out but the lack of a keyboard was the dealbreaker for me. I have been so spoiled by having fully functional keyboards (6600,6700,6800,TP1,TP2) that even the droid and moment keyboards feel like crap compared to any of the ppc's that I have owned (Pre and blackberry's keyboards just seem too crowded for me). Personally I like and am comfortable with Winmo but with all the new smart phone operating systems that have come out in the recent years I wanted to see what android was like and was ready to pull the trigger on the hero but UGH onscreen keyboards suck! |

Re: have you USED android yet??
Yes, I've used one. My dad got a Droid and I was quite impressed, and I've been playing with the emulator a lot lately. I think Android is pretty impressive for such a young OS. It's evolving and expanding very quickly. There are areas where it falls short of WinMo, but WinMo has been around much longer, and frankly has never moved at the pace we're seeing from Google.
Besides, WM is now officially a dying platform. WP7 is a totally new system. Despite what they say about continuing to develop WM6.5.X for awhile, I doubt we're going to see much more coming from hardware manufacturers. And I can't see major developers carrying things forward much longer, as they'll be focusing on WP7 (or abandoning MS entirely). It'll live on for awhile, but I'm ready for something with a faster processor, a capacitive screen, better camera, etc. So the "WinMo is so much better than Android" folks, it's a moot point. Like it or not, WinMo will die off -- Microsoft WANTS it to. Nearly everyone here is going to either be on WP7 or another platform within the next 2-4 years, tops. I'm sure lots of you are thinking right now "I'll stay with my TP2 until they pry it out of my cold dead hands," but get real. You'll either want something new or it'll just plain die on you. You'll move on, and if you like customization, Android will probably be your best bet. |
