Re: What do you think of Windows Phone 7?

I personally don't think Winmo 7 will be all that different. All the things we've heard so far are nothing more than rumors (I've asked for confirmation to some of these, but I haven't gotten an answer yet, so as far as I'm concerned, they're rumors), and I also think Microsoft knows what its customers like about its phones.

This isn't necessarily an act of fanboyism here; I'm just saying I'll wait until more about wm7 is confirmed. Until then, I'll take an innocent until proven guilty approach.

Re: What do you think of Windows Phone 7?

All that system resources for a stupid UI. It is just like zuneHD's UI but they added Pics on it. I would rather take the Nvidia Tegra's carousel. But they took away Multitasking so that would be irrelevant now. Plus the carousel is based on ce5.xx

MS VP said over and over again that the WP7 is not a PC. So the denials should end already. That statement is totally the opposite of what MS started ain't it? "PPC"? What happened?

Only OS and Core can multitask. 3rd party apps will be more complicated as far as Multitasking is concerned.

Flash support is off officially. But, that is just on the release. It could change in time.

Clearly, The direction they are taking is the one that Apple opened. Is it bad? We'll see. iPhone had a tremendous success. So why not MS?

WP7 will be hacked any which way. We will still enjoy tweaking, modding, Hacking it but in a different way now. A different level if you will.

What's better with WP7? well, It's gonna be a more reliable phone now. No more of those crashes, laggy, restart once a day. Those will be history. That way, It will be more appealing to the masses. Besides, 95% of the sales is from the non tech savvy users. So from a business standpoint, MS will choose sales over what geeks wants.

There is no secrets anymore. Hopefuls should stop hoping that there are 2 versions and we've only seen the bad version. it is what it is. MS will say that there is something better if they really have. But this is it. The New Windows Mobile.

Re: What do you think of Windows Phone 7?

I'm just happy that it won't come out till the holidays at earliest and that means I won't even want to buy one for a year at least. There will be so many gorgeous phones out by then (including a new Iphone...yea I hate them too but we would still be on flip phones if not for Apple). Android will be on Boston Kreme edition (who knows but it should be much, much more polished). My TP2 is still relevant for at least 12 months! I'll take it and then decide amongst the available phones. I'm also the sucker who's gonna buy an Ipad... lol HTC send me a notice when that new WMP 7 phone is ready.. just in case

I'm not sure about Nexus One, but My Touch doesn't necessarily have a better support for Exchange.. Two of my users have My Touch and both had to buy apps like Touchdown to connect to Exchange as Activesync Push for Exchange failed to work. Perhaps due to the fact that I locked down POP/IMAP ports and installed SSL cert that is not one of those root certs....User had to buy Touchdown ap in order to get the phone to connect to Exchange. Then after returning form vacation his Touchdown app stopped working. User later bought another ap that seemed to work. I was very disapointed with TMO My Touch Activestink Push for Exchange, that was the whole idea to connect to Exchange and use Activesync. I really can't say that Android phones can replace WinMo as they are not quite there when it comes to business phones. The fact that it wouldn't connect to Exchange when Activesync for Exchange is already on the phone, that`s just crappy in my opinion.
Android is somewhat like an iPhone I guess, more of a toy then a bus. tool.
Sorry, didn't mean to step on anybody`s toes, just sharing my experience with Android.

Look HERE

I think this is simple to decipher. if ask about Multitasking, If there is and fully operational, The answer is simple "yes". If the answer comes with an explanation, there is if's and but's.
"The core operating system is a modern multitasking operating system. If you play music for example, the music will play back as you navigate around the experience...if you're using email, we have great support for push email and that happens in the background.
For third party applications—we'll get into a lot more detail on this in MIX—but we have a few ways we're going to make sure that third parties can bring their value to the user even when the app is not running. Live tiles are an example. Data feeds in the hubs are another example for some apps."

For people to say I can't wait to jump to Android, well its your opinion. But wouldn't you want to physically hold a phone running WP7 in your hands and test it out yourself before you put a negative spin on WP7?

I hear people saying it will not have multi-tasking and so on and so on. But Microsoft did not say anything about multi-tasking as of yet. As far as customization, I believe HTC said their phones will be unique in some ways. So I think customization will still be there, especially with the developers here at PPC Geeks and XDA.

We have not seen the business aspects of the phone yet, or the phone features itself. The conference was just to get the "big picture" out and the little details will begin to surface sooner or later. Hopefully at MIX.

I'm not a WinMo fanboy but I think WP7 has HUGE potential and upside. And I trust HTC will make this phone absolutely awesome. They always find a way to make their phones stand out.

It is the opposite, WM7 seems to be getting a lot of positive reviews and no one can figure out why...its like in an art galary with a piece of crap in the middle and everyone is going WOW and your like..am I missing something or is that just crap? (my guess bribes)

I am also never calling it Windows Phone and I prefer Windows Mobile, but after seeing that I'll just call in Mobile7..cause I dont even know why Windows is in the name anymore...

I actually like the fact that microsoft was setting standards for hardware as many windows phones got crippled and burned down..but what they showed in that demo was DOS with a UI..scratch that I'll take DOS any day over that.

I read somewhere Microsoft will not let OEMs customize the view..don't know if that is true though.

That thing will never EVER be in a Touch Pro model as those are aimed at business people and that OS is a dumbphone OS similar to whats on the Instinct or iPhone. That doesn't mean I would not give it a shot, but I am clearly unimpressed and my next phone will be an Android.

Microsoft is trying to compete with iPhone in the dumbphone market rather then try to innovate their OS like android is trying to do.

Also no multitasking and flash (its on the ppcgeeks front page)

as for Exchange..I am using Funambol and Zimbra and I find it better then exchange any day(can sync android, windows mobile,Blackbery,Symbian, and all the dumbphones). (but then again sometimes your corporation doesn't give you a choice)

And for the record I am still loyal to Windows Mobile, but just cause you took a piece of junk a labeled a windows mobile sticker on it does not mean it'll have my support.
