Re: outlook problem

Is your company using exchange servers? Make sure they have enabled active sync on your account (its different than a blackberry setup). Also, the server address could be different than the one used with pc's outlook. Try the webmail server, if not already.

When creating the account on your phone there are two ways to get the mail. You can join your company domain, or use your phone as a trusted device and just use active sync. What type are you trying to setup?

Re: outlook problem

They told me it was an exchange server, or they assumed it was. They only have experience syncing BB devices so I may have to teach them a thing or two.

Give me a list of questions and settings I should bring to them tomorrow and ill see where I get. Let me know the difference if they are on exchange vs if they arent and what different questions I should ask, settings I should have them change.

THANKS!!!

I feel for you, the IT staff "assumed" they are running an Exchange Server!?!? If that was there response shoot them this LINK to assist them to get their Exchange environment configured correctly.

Good luck!

Honestly, if they need anything else...someone should be fired! Setting up Windows Mobile in an Exchange environment is not difficult at all and they if they are worth their salt, you should be syncing tomorrow...be sure to update us.

got an email today saying that they wont change server settings if it means messing up the sync with RIM devices. should be able to run any device concurrently right? not just one brand.......?

That makes absolutely no sense, I manage an environment with BOTH Exchange & RIM, and have no issues whatsoever with supporting Windows Mobile along with Blackberries. My WinMo users would revolt if I told them "No sync for you".

Sounds like your IT department is "outsourced". They are probably reading the wrong web page for your situation. Try a different contact. Someone there HAS to know what they are doing.

Dont give up, they can do it. Its not that hard.
