Re: VZW: Flash OEM 6.5, SPL Lock and no texting
Can you make phone calls or connect to the data network? My guess is no, and dialing *228 or and of the *228 numbers would fix it.

Re: VZW: Flash OEM 6.5, SPL Lock and no texting
I had some weird issues like that when I did a hard reset then reflashed at the advice of HTC. I had to call Verizon and they "had to update my programming". For some reason, after a *228, I could send and receive sms and email, but I couldn't access the web or make/accept phone calls. Once Verizon "updated" me, it worked correctly.

[Fix]: VZW: Flash OEM 6.5, SPL Lock and no texting
Thanks imnuts and razgriz1138.
I called vzw tech support and the first person was a bonehead. Once I told her I did the OEM update she said I needed to bring it in to a store for a tech to look at it. I told her I could email, browse the web and make calls, just couldn't send text. She even had the gall to tell me that I couldn't send a text to myself !!!! Anywho....hung up and searched web again. One site suggested hard resetting and calling #8899. So I did that and I got in touch with another tech person. She checked my account while I was resetting via pulling the battery. Once I did that and she did something to the account everything was working fine. When I asked how this could have happened, she explained that occassionally when doing the *228 Opt 1, or even *28899 something does not get programmed to the account correctly. So she had to reset it. So, if anyone experiences being unable to send text message and gets a Cause Code: Rdo.IF.R.S (or even a "NOACK") you probably have something not provisioned correctly on your account. Call tech support and if you get an idiot (they seem to have quite a few) hang up and try calling again. Thanks for your help. |

Re: [FIX]: VZW: Flash OEM 6.5, SPL Lock and no texting
Supposedly, there is something about the new 6.5 update from VZW that is causing some accounts to get flagged by VZW and prevent the phone from connecting to the network properly. I guess it somehow gets labeled as lost/stolen with no user input after the flash and you need to call the #8899 number to get it reset. Didn't think of that being the issue, but it was a hot topic a little bit ago in Mighty's stable rom thread from so many people doing it. I haven't had that issue yet (thankfully), but I'm glad to see you got it fixed.

Re: [FIX]: VZW: Flash OEM 6.5, SPL Lock and no texting
I have run into this issue multiple times when flashing the 6.5 ROM. I was getting tired of having to call Verizon each time. My process when flashing to a new ROM is to flash to a verizon stock ROM first. I found that each time I went directly to the 6.5 ROM I ended up getting the authentication error and had to call Verizon. I think I found a way around it however. I have found that if I flash the 6.1 Stock ROM and then go to the 6.5 ROM I do not have this issue. I have used this process at least 3 times and have not had the authentication issue. I know it takes more time to flash the 6.1 ROM first, but at least you don't have to call Verizon.
