The OP is correct, tp2 should be the last phone we buy without 1ghz processor minimum or multi touch capabilities. That's all he's saying.

Re: So why do I feel like I bought the last of the Mohicans
Okay here's my $0.5 worth...A 1Ghz CPU sounds cool on paper but remember this, more Ghz = shorter battery life, even if the CPU is heavily power optimised. Secondly, having played with several android devices I still choose Win Mob simply because the mods made by some of the people here and on XDA-Developers are awesome and miles easier to install. This said, multitouch is nice but the TP2's zoom bar pretty much renders it obsolete.
From what I understand (and I'm probably wrong),Win 7 is going to be the consumer grade smartphone OS, with another more potent version that has multi-tasking etc made for business users... Throwing out a decades worth of development to match (what is in my humble opinion) the rather crappy iPhone is just nucking futs (but then thats Microsoft these days isnt it) The TP2 mightn't have the latest but it does work well and there's acres of cool apps and mods available for it. The big out-take here though is that Microsoft seem to have lost the plot with their mobile plays and need to sort themselves out. I reckopn there's a big market thats untapped for an independent app store for Pocket PC devices, perhaps someone cold write one? |

Re: So why do I feel like I bought the last of the Mohicans
I'm not yet an owner (still on the fence between TP2 with the great key vs Droid Eris)
BUT- You've got one powerful tool here that HAS GSM/GLOBAL capability on Verizons network. If you travel internationally, that is really something. And I can't quite pull the trigger on Eris because I want the TP2 key and GSM! But the endless tweaking and ROMS...personally with a family and work, I just don't have the time for that like I would have when I was single. TP2 is a nice device and I do like the chunky feel. |
