Re: Flashed phone many times, now can't authenticate phone?
This happens to me every time I flash back to the Verizon OEM 6.5 Rom. My understanding is that this somehow corrupts the phones MEID or IMEI key in the phone (go to Settings\System\Device Information)
Sometimes a level 1 tech will understand what is wrong and be able to fix it, but I have had quicker service by asking for Level 2 support right out of the gate. They will likely have you dial *228 or another number to get it "on the air". Once the network sees the phone they can generate a new key. Soft reset the phone and you should be good. |

Re: Flashed phone many times, now can't authenticate phone?
The easiest way to fix this in the future is to activate another phone, then reactivate the problem phone. This process reset/regenerates the keys necessary for the phone to authenticate. This happens to me quite often, so I just activate my old Touch Pro, then reactivate the TP2 and all is well. Hope this helps.

It just happened to me now. i was so scare and then feel relief after reading this thread. May i ask how do you deactivate and reactivate the phone? Do you do it by yourself or with Verizon's help? |

Step 1: Try to provision it (if that doesn't work try step 2) Step 2: Try dialing #228 (this also activates the phone) (this sends an update to the phone) doesn't work? try step 3 Step 3: Contact Verizon and tell them that you can't authenticate your phone after a hardreset (do NOT say anything beyond that or you could get yourself in hot water, i wouldn't risk it)

It can be an old $10 flip phone. You go to verizonwireless.com & create an account (it's free) Then you go to where it says you can change phones. You turn off your existing phone (remove the battery) & type in the ESN or MEID from the old phone & tell them to activate it (it only takes a minute & the site tells you what to do) When the old phone is activated, make a couple calls to make sure it works then wait about ten minutes & shut it down. Now use the exact same procedure to re-activate the TP2 again & it should work fine. This procedure forces a DMU reset. ~John |

creating a new account with an old phone seems like making more steps than needed just to avoid Verizon customer service, our money is paying for customer service beyond that of our phone services, why not use it? just my two-cents |

Re: Flashed phone many times, now can't authenticate phone?
I'm tonight with one more question.
My Verizon touch pro 2 GPS doesn't work. I just installed the Tomtom navigator with map and activated. when i start the Tomtom and drive around the house the software said "Waiting for GPS signal" and it just keep waiting but could not recieve any signal. Is Verizon Locked the GPS on this phone? or something wrong with mine? |
