Re: Is Windows Mobile Vanishing?
I'm not sure what to think at this point.
Learning a new OS is one thing (I always enjoyed doing that). Learning a new OS that doesn't work with the many apps I already own is something different entirely. I do use some of the programs/apps etc that don't work in an iphone (Slingbox is one of my most used apps, especially with the 2.0 software) & I tether all the time. I do have a 2nd gen ipod touch & while I absolutely love the thing, I also realize that some of its limitations certainly prevent me from ever using an iphone as my main device (& switching to ATT is not a legitimate option anyway). If Verizon had the iphone, I'm sure my Wife would have one & I would grab it occasionally. I have really been looking forward to Windows 7 & now I'm not even sure I want it. Since an iphone is not an option, I guess that leaves Android. My brother-in-law has a Droid & he absolutely loves it, but it is his first smart phone so he really has nothing to compare it to. When I play with his phone, it doesn't thrill me anywhere near as much as it does him & my Sling setup doesn't work with it yet. At this point, I think I may end up using my custom ROM TP2 for a while longer than I had originally planned.......... ~John |

The iPhone sucks man. Notic ein this thread just about everyone is saying they will look at Android if Windows 7 Phone is as crappy as it sounds. Notice also that all the reviews are saying Windows Phone 7 is better than the iPhone, and all the people here are saying it's a lot like an iPhone (though still more open with more choices). Like I said, going to Android is one thing, but get out of here with that iPhone nonsense. |

WM 7 has all the things that People actually need!/use it has shed the crap that the old WM has...(i guess all of it...) I think WM7 will be really taken well... ... I am so glad that that microsoft has given the old WM a burial! 2010 will be the year of WM 7 and no more "soft rests": and" cooking" ![]() I am only sad that my beloved TP2 will not work on the new WM7. ![]() |

Re: Is Windows Mobile Vanishing?
I don't want to declare "dewey" the premature winner before seeing what fun WM7 has in store for us. But preliminarily like every1 else has said, WM7 looks like a dud.
Now for most of humanity change is not easily embraced, but when there is no clear transition between loyal WM users & its next iteration, that's when you will have market share lost. I don't know why ppl even come here to comment if all they want is to be controlled by an OS ala Apple. Android is clearly where ppl want to be at if they don't like MS. to state: "WM 7 has all the things that People actually need!/use" wouldn't you rather eat an apple? Back on topic. This is a defining moment for MS: will they give what the customer clamor for organized customization & multitasking power - like their OS for pc's? Or will they show us what we've never seen before but get it possibly all right or all wrong... Last edited by Q_Q; 02-16-2010 at 11:57 AM. |

Re: Is Windows Mobile Vanishing?
yes wm is vanishing and it should. It needed to be completely rewritten to compete with what is out there. This is why they are doing series 7 and I think the reason they are not calling it Windows Mobile 7 is because they want people to know it was rewritten and not some beefed up 6.5.

Re: Is Windows Mobile Vanishing?
Yeah, its vanishing cause people want NEW & SHINY as opposed to functional & versatile.
