Re: Why no WM 7 leaked ROMs?
If I hear one more person say that iPhone OS is superior to WinMo I'm going to end up in a mental ward.

Re: Why no WM 7 leaked ROMs?
My guess is that there are no leaks because WM7 is a really big deal. There are probably other reasons as mentioned, but primarily I'd think they want to be able to blow everyone away with it, which is harder to do when you've seen renders of the thing for months and months before launch.
Also, I noticed that a lot of "iPhone-optimized" sites work great in Opera. It's no wonder everyone thinks the touchscreen on the iPhone is so great on web sites, the iPhone versions of everything have HUGE buttons. Check out Google Reader iPhone version vs standard mobile version and you'll see what I mean. |

Re: Why no WM 7 leaked ROMs?
Let's not forget that the bigger the hype, the more likely MS will pull out of this WinMo Failure alive
6.5 and 6.6 are fails, we all know and understand this, hence why eyes are all on 7 |

Re: Why no WM 7 leaked ROMs?
One of the key things that often gets overlooked is WM7's requirement for a capacitive screen. This will make it very difficult to port over to any existing devices (HD2 being the notable exception). Even if someone does figure out how to get it to work, it is likely our beloved TP2's/Tilts, etc. wouldn't have enough horsepower to make it work effectively.
And I am not sure capacitive screens will be "better" - While they may be more finger friendly (I have an iTouch) you give up the precision of the resistive screens. You could never do handwriting recognition on a capacitive screen for example. For website browsing, I like the ability to pull out my stylus and click a hyperlink among several closely stacked links (a menu bar on the left or right) without the need to zoom in so far that you lose visual perspective of the web page.
