Yeah that's what confuses me, which direction it's going to go in. The zune interface that I'd like to see is less business than I would expect from MS, but I don't like the leaked screenshots very much. I still want all the functionality that 6.5 has but I want it buttery smooth (and a nice interface of course)

I've been hearing this for years, but that's not very practical or usable. You have a start menu, file structure, registry, and sort of taskbar as it is right now. There is no need for it to look or function like xp or vista. That would be a backwards step as far as the interface and usability go.

microsoft's president said currently they have no plans to create a zune phone at this time. they know everyone wants it, but its currently "NOT" in the works.

What do you mean it's not practical/usable? I want my stylus. I'd use that as the mouse. Look at this Android's slate screen:

That almost looks like what I want. Task bar, icons, menus. It's all there. I don't need finger friendly shit. I'm not a little girl trying to get to My Lady Gaga music before my friend stops paying attention. Moveable, scalable, and cascadable windows have been done that small on my DS before, so everything's possible and feasible.

Good. I listen to like 1 CD a year and Stern to and from work. I don't care about music and music players. Give me computers and the internet.

Possible is not the same as practical. Finger friendly menus that make the device easier to use one handed (6.5.3/6.6) make the device easier to use. The android slate is NOT a phone so that's an unfair comparison. I can understand the desire to have it look and function like a normal computer on a tablet/slate, but not a phone.

I don't need finger friendly. I don't use the phone like a little girl or a stock broker, so it's not really a priority. And I don't doubt that slates will have calling ability.
