Re: Why don't Registry edits "stick"?

Yeah I still can't find what service is running and causing this issue. I am to much of a novice chef to find which program is running and causing the change in entries. It is really bugging me.

Re: Why don't Registry edits "stick"?

If it has anything to do with Verizon I will guarantee you that for the most part they would be locking out ones that some how or another, relates to them making money.

For instance I could see them locking out being able to increase the earpiece volume as they may have been getting a lot of earpiece warranty returns, maybe not even on the TP2 but something else WM run, where they maybe thinking someone hack the volume and burned it out, then called for a warranty return, got a RMA, hard reset the device and sent it back.

Also I could really see them locking out the setting for turning off the data link so that no one could see that they could use this device quite well without that and then be like, well what am I paying an extra $29.99 dollars a month for?

An stuff like that.

The most scary part is that Verizon seems to be a leader in stuff like this and if it works and people don’t stop buying the devices, then everyone even AT&T will be doing it before you know it.

Re: Why don't Registry edits "stick"?

The problem is NOT the CM Guardian service. That prevents making changes to your data connection, but not to other parts of the registry. There is a stealth program in here somewhere that is preventing any edits to certain registry values from sticking. Thank you HTC, apparently you know what is best for everyone and don't believe in user choice.

Ok, I do have that installed on my TP2. I went into remove programs and it's not in there. How do I uninstall it?

Re: Why don't Registry edits "stick"?

So I can make a change and it works for hours. But it changes after a soft reset. So it isn't a program like htc_cm because it was always running and would override things like the data connection immediately. It must be some script that runs only when the phone is booting up.

If it isn't listed don't worry about. It won't cause problems

I hope not. I've had cabs on the phone that were not on the remove programs list that still did their thing, such as the "no bottom curtain cab". The bottom curtain was gone, but there was no removing it after it was there.
