Re: Preparing for the upgrade to 6.5, best way to prepare?

Ok, to answer your question...if you are wanting to upgrade and still want your "165" cabs/applications to work...your best bet, since it is apparent that stability is very important to you, is to re-install all 165 apps...not try to restore any kind of back up...you 'might' have issues if you try to restore over a ROM upgrade...I'm not saying it's not possible, I just wouldn't recommend it, especially since you are concerned regarding stability...

Any ROM upgrade, custom or stock will automatically hard reset...and 'erase everything'...

The actual Windows 6.5 upgrade for T-Mobile is rumored to be out January 6th and I'm thinking of taking advantage.

Also, please use ENGLISH when responding.

i was about to offer my help but this F@cked up.

Yeah, there's a lot to keep track of. Believe it or not, this is after cleaning house...

160 cabs installed (I realize some of these are standard and some are unnecessary)

Re: Preparing for the upgrade to 6.5, best way to prepare?

So I guess the question now becomes should I uninstall all of the cabs/apps prior to upgrading?

No you don't have to install the appsprior to upgrading. The upgrade will start you at a clean slate.

Not sure if you read the question correctly.

I would think that the apps need to be uninstalled because of the files all over the storage card.

Re: Preparing for the upgrade to 6.5, best way to prepare?

yeah, i'd take all the cabs copy them somewhere else, really REALLY decide if you need this many, and format the card. then i'd forget a stock 6.5, and update to one of the more popular 6.5 roms that are already out.

I'd totally agree with you, but I see 95% of these threads on everything not working with ROMs. It annoys me that there are a lot of troubleshooting posts here and not more posts about what to do with a device that already works perfectly. I like having a lot of cabs and apps on there, just in case I need to show things off or the desire hits me to use something different.

Plus, I'm not too well read on what is so great about the custom ROMs. Speed? I'd sacriface a few notches on the speed to avoid troubleshooting constantly.

Re: Preparing for the upgrade to 6.5, best way to prepare?

My advice, wait for at least a few weeks after it comes out. Read what others are finding out about the new OS. There are almost always some issues, something that doesn't work any more, something that's been removed, some fix you did before that needs to be done differently.

I'm a proud graduate of the school of other peoples hard knocks. I wait for them to go through all the growing pains and learn from them. Makes my life much easier.

BTW, Many thanks to all those people that learned the hard way for me. =D>
