Re: Getting really pissed about battery life

I had an issue when I had Skyfire installed that would keep my data connection open and cause excessive battery drain (The phone would also get pretty warm). Once I uninstalled Skyfire that issue went away. I don't know if this could still be an issue with the latest version or not that was just released.

Re: Getting really pissed about battery life

I have noticed a big difference after doing a number of things. Not sure which really fixed it but at this point it doesnt matter
I replaced s2u2 with smartlock. Removed System Seven and just set up gmail activesync at like 15 minute intervals. Changed the backlight setting to be constant instead of automatic. With all of this, I'm not seeing a fast drain like before.
Thanks everyone for feedback!

I've been running on Energy ROMs and the previous ROM Leo 28008 wasn't great on battery and BackLight was auto. Then I installed 28011 and set back light to fixed (30 percent I think). Battery has been outstanding now. Push Mail is off and data is up continuos due to HTC weather.

Engery just send a tweet saying he thinks the battery is outstanding on 28011 as well. So it may be the ROM.

I have stuck with mightyrom after trying a few others... and am now using titanium. Do you think Juicy or Energy would be better for battery purposes if I plan to not even use Sense?

Re: Getting really pissed about battery life

I am on the Energy Leo ROM. When i first installed it i was having simaler issues to you with my battery generally going from about 100% to dead but the time i got home from work. Ended up noticing that his had a 3g option that is auto-set to on when you install. I disabled it and now get ~ 1.5-2 days per full charge.

So what does that mean? It disables a 3G connection?

I'm at 70%, and I've installed Swype, sent > 75 text messages, and have Acrobat running in the background all the time (I like to read!). I'm running the 2nd to latest MightyROM. Sync with exchange, but every 15 minutes during the day. (30 at night). No push pages setup(push internet disabled). S2U2 is running as well.
+1 here. Running SSK's rom. Email push on, S2U2 installed.

I can easily get through an entire day on 1 charge, while I was only getting half a day on the TP1 with basically the same usage/software.

Re: Getting really pissed about battery life

I've been seeing higher drains while using nueRom's battery driver for TP2, (the one that shows 1% increments.) as well as the one in Good2Life's cleanup cab. You can follow the discussion HERE.

There is a rumor that there's a bug in WM that causes it to measure the half-full battery charge on a new phone as full(You know how when you buy a new phone, how the battery is only half full), and it will only charge to that level from then on no matter how much you calibrate it. I dunno how truthful this rumor is, but I have noticed a HUGE difference after doing this.

1. Let the phone go completely dead, until you can't even boot it up.

2. Charge for about 5 minutes, just long enough to get enough of a charge to boot up & hard reset(obviously, back up your data before you do this step).

3. Let the phone do it's configurations & reset, then plug it back in & let it charge OVERNIGHT.

And S2U2 is a major battery hog. I won't use it.
That's an interesting theory, but Lithium batteries in our phones are smart batteries, their internal controls is what determines if it's full or not. The whole memory reset theories come from Nickel batteries, which actually needed a full discharge and recharge every once in a while to help the battery "remember" it's capacity. With a lithium battery, they degenerate faster below 30% or above 80%, basically meaning they if you are constantly charging the battery or keep it at constant low charge, it will kill the battery faster than if you used it in a normal manner.
