Re: Sip/voip
I downloaded fring but... I didn't like that you have to create an account to use it. This would be for interfacing with my offices asterisk box. I have gotten several programs I've found to work but... the quality sucks.
Hence... the looking for recommendations. |

Re: Sip/voip
PortSIP works for the most part, but does not handle NAT transversal well.
So if you are in a WiFi spot or don't otherwise have control over the NAT/Router, you might end up with one-way audio. |

Re: Sip/voip
tried portsip yesterday. The codec it uses for my voip box (it's actually a switchvox which is very similar to asterisk) is G711A and it's kinda crappy. choppy sound and bad reverb/echo. It's by far the easiest one to work with so far though. I'm so close. thanks for the suggestion.
Anyone other suggestions? Thanks in advance! P.S. using a wi-fi router with NAT/firewall disabled. We use POLYCOM Spectralink wireless phones over these WAP's and they work fine. |

I thought I'd throw in that sjphone works well if you use audioroute but... it's kinda echo-ish and sounds acid trippy. Working on that now.

Re: Sip/voip
I have been able to get it to work natively through the regular dialer. The steps are as follows. I have serached a lot and dont even know who were the originals to figure it out or where the cabs came from but hey it works.
I first installed WM6VoIPFull which will give you 2 links in your start menu called SIP config tool and SIP dial plan. Also will give you the internet tab when you click on Start\Settings\Personal\Phone. Also gives you a today plugin but that can only be used if you use the native today screen that comes with windows mobile. After installing WM6VoIPFull install Setup_VoIP_v0.3. Anyways moving on...in the SIP Config Tool you will put in your SIP settings: Server, username, password. Make sure you click on tools\SIP over 3g/GSM and then enable via registry to allow the calling over your Data plan. Once all that has been done you will click on Save Configuration. Next go into SIP dialplan, here you will create the dial plan that you have. It may ask you for a soft reset so do it. After you have reset the phone you will go into the Setup VoIP app and then go into options from there and config the outgoing calls. After finished configuration click Done to save your settings. Now the only way you are going to know if are using your SIP service is by go to the Native Today Screen and allowing the Internet Calling item on it. You enable this by going into Settings\Personal\Today and then scrool over to items. Once you see it on your today screen and have all settings configured it should say "Available". To make a call using SIP click on that option and it should switch to "Selected". Once "Selected" you can go to your dialpad and begin dialing any number you wish. Lastly i had an issue with call volume and not being able to hear the person i am speaking to through internal speaker only through external speakerphone. To fix this issue i installed AudioRoute which will route the audio to the speaker you want. It also helped with call volume. In other threads i read not everyone had this issue so before installing Audioroute maybe you want to try making a call to see what happens. Any questions let me know, hope this helps! Re: Sip/voip
Edit: For those who are running Sense 2.5 and want and easier way to enable/disable VoIP from the Comm Manager it can be done you just need some registry edits and mortscript. Just figured it out and wanted to post my findings.
Now i am Juicy's R8 ROM and it has mortscript built in, i believe most custom ROM's have it built in, if not you will need to download it. First of all you need to change one of the buttons within the Comm Manager through the registry. Since I am running Juicy's R8 ROM and his version has a 3G button, and since i am on sprint and that button is of no use to me I simply changed that one. You can change whichever button you prefer and that is found in the following directory: "HKLM\Software\HTC\Comm Manager" within there you will see folders with numbers that correspond to each button. For me it was folder 6. I changed the key named Default from 3G to VOIP. After a soft reset and you go back into Comm Manager depending which button you switched it should now say "IP Phone" Next you need to apply the mortscripts attached. The only thing is they need to be applied after every soft reset. So to avoid having to manually apply it every time i simply copied them into the folder \Windows\Startup, and every time the phone starts the mortscripts are applied and the "IP Phone" button works flawlessy. This has made my VoIP expercience a lot better on my device and even call quality has improved. Any questions feel free to ask!! |
