How are we to know what info you do/don't acquire. Your packager program requires AV to be disabled so your files can be hidden in memory, you are logging IP addresses and blacklisting phones. Your actions aren't exactly pure, so how are we to know what you will/won't do with potentially a great deal of information on your "customers"

Someone should post is up over at XDA- they'll probably leave it up there.

nah, XDA doesn't approve of warez. though, I don't think PPCgeeks does, either.

some AV programs need to be disabled, because the packer I used to pack the program isn't liked by symantec.
I use NOD32 and that one doesn't complain. nor does Avast on my laptop. again a case where symantec sucks... :P
anyway, the reason for AV problems is stated in 1st post of the HSPL release too. I don't know what this nonsense idea is about hiding files in memory.

as for IP's, *any* page you visit online *will* see your IP so any site can and will probably log IP's (just think of the website statistics that all hosting providers offer you by default),
and most people (unless maybe if you are the police or something) can't do anything with an IP, so that's not terribly insecure I would say
we also log the IMEI and the PC's ID, but that's again not interesting.
we cannot identify you personally from any of this info. we do not take any info/personal data off your phone etc. etc.
so, that's all we log, and we don't look at the logs ourselves (unless requested), the server code tries to use it to detect unlock uses.

still, if you are worried and you don't want to believe when I say that we are not doing anything shady, and if you don't find the many references convincing about me and Olipro helping people since 2005 (on XDA since 2007), free for most of the time as well, then don't use the program, it's that simple.

does this answer help. I hope so.

also...I just noticed in your post.. what does the expression "pure action" mean??

I just read every word of this thread, and now I'm concerned about what is going on with this unlocker. Yay 4 Juggs, that response you got is unbelievable. Of course it goes without saying with anything, if you don't trust it, don't use it. But we were all misled into believing the unlocker is safe and does not gather sensitive information. On top of that, we were told first use is free, replacement phones can be free, commercial use is pay, otherwise donations are appreciated - not required.

Now the part that pisses me off is they will not disclose what information is being gathered. While I don't believe I have super sensitive info (with the exception of internet cookies with my username and password to my bank accounts, utility companies, and Verizon account. My home computer has even more sensitive information), who's to say what's safe?

And all you F'in morons saying "What's the big deal about donating $5.12? Well I say to you, there is no big deal. All of us here are willing to pay $5.12 for the unlocker - if it is required. Instead, we're told a payment is not required, but then extensive, and unacceptable measures are taken to prevent us from using the unlocker.

Still to you morons, I would much rather pay $5.12, or even $10.12 for something that unlocks my phone indefinitely, than provide any sensitive information about myself. Had I been aware that they would "gather whatever info they wanted, and shame on us for asking" would be the case, I would NOT have unlocked my phone.

Oh, and to the other stupid f**k who said don't be scared, they're going to sell us kiddie porn or whatever, get a clue. There is so much damage they can do with such information.

Although I cannot code, I'm with you guys to unlock the unlocker, or bring this to the attention of others. That response they gave is shrewd and unacceptible. I feel dirty using an unlocked TP2, and also for those who are to naiive to know what's going on. Something must be done. What a genius scheme they have running...
dear, I hope my previous post helps you too.
by the way, I don't think you still feel dirty (???) using it, has anything bad happened to you lately just because you used the unlocker? I don't think so.

I am not saying you are trying to keep files hidden on my hard drive, I am saying that your packager hides the RUU files so they can not be captured/copied.

As for my "pure" comment, I am simply referring to the way in which you choose to blacklist IPs/IMEIs. I'll give you a perfect example... When my first TP2 had to be replaced for dead pixels, I took my replacement phone home and tried to run HSPL. I got the commercial message... fair 'nuff I have already unlocked a phone from this PC/WAN IP (granted I relocked it before bringing it back to Sprint).

What is not ok, is for me to be unable to then take my replacement phone to my office or use a neighbor's wifi (with permission of course) and run HSPL. There is no good reason why you should blacklist the phone until you allow the IMEI or the user pays. It's not like some commercial phone salesman is going around all day war driving for open wifi access points and reinstalling windows just to unlock some phones...

Re: hard spl unlock not working on my replaced phone...

cmonex: Simply have your relocker send the IP Address/PC ID to your server upon successfully relocking a phone. You can then grant that user another unlock. Hell, you could even throw a 48 hour time limit on it or something. Problem solved and much less hassle on you with support emails.

Re: hard spl unlock not working on my replaced phone...

I think she was fair enuf in her response....
I'm suprised she even kept responding....

Seems ppl forgot that Oilpro/Cmonex put alot of hard work and time into THEIR unlocker....
Time is money but yet they released it free....
I can't believe ppl here are complaining....
I mean really if you have to wait a couple days/week to unlock is it really that big of a deal?
Nobody's forcing anyone to use it and if donating is faster to get their support then donate....
They donated their time and expertise to make it....
If they wanted to they could of said everyone pays $10 to use each time....
Or even worse they could of distributed it to whom ever they wanted to
They know this and 80%+ ppl here would of paid....

Whats convienant to you may not be convienant to their ideas on how the spl unlocker should be run....

I have yet to see another unlocker made by another person so IDK i'm just happy that they made it and am fine with their rules and regs....

Like cmonex said don't use their unlocker if you don't like what they built....
Build your own unlocker.....

One thing that really pisses me off @ PPCGeeks is ppl are so disrespectful at times to ppl that put alot of work and time into what they posted....
Yet the ppl that are direspectful have no way to make the same or better but yet their internet ego gets into the way of reality.....

What's ironic in this thread is that Yay4Juggs was worried about his info being took and then Juggs got caught lieing and using without permission/stealing Lil Rico's Mighty theme....
No offense Juggs but I can't believe that happened

THANK YOU OILPRO CMONEX FOR MAKING THE UNLOCKER AND I'M PRETTY SURE MOST PPL HERE ARE THANKFUL TOO..
Like I posted before donation is coming after christmas shopping is done and I also got to throw Psyki some cash too!

*Putting on fire jacket because I know the flame throwers are coming*
