Re: HTC Touch HD 480x800 WVGA! Look out Touch Pro!

Nope.. If you take a look at the specs, it is really a huge waste of money IMO. You don't get any upgrades on RAM/ROM, and you don't get Wifi N, which for the life of me still can't understand why these new devices are still shipping and being made with the very old B/G standard.. Why not give us the upgrade?

Anyways, like I said above, it makes no sense that this device is not upgraded at all compared to TPro. Sure the display is a little larger, but it still removes the SSD apparently, and doesn't have a hardware keyboard, and also doesn't add any additional VRAM for which this device will most likely require to run at a decent speed. After all, you have a much larger screen, so why hasn't the RAM been boosted??

Just watch the market HTC, don't do anything else. Support existing devices, and wait some time before making a new device. You could always spend all of your time on TouchFlo 4D, if it were even possible. I'd love to see you try at that.. BUT don't re-invent the wheel, when the TPro is a fabulous looking device, with a great screen and feature-set.
This HD device still hasn't swayed me from TPro, even if HD came out before TPro, I would still wait for the Pro.

A hardware keyboard makes phones absurdly huge (do you really want to get back to the days of carrying a brick that badly), ANY phone always "needs" more ram, rom, speed, etc so that is a pointless complaint. The HD runs wonderfully (WAY better than the Diamond and the Pro). The vast majority of people don't even have a WiFi connection, let alone an N connection. The vast majority of hotspots are B/G and why the frack would you be using your phone to surf the web at home??!! Not to mention the fact that with a 3G connection you should be getting close to the same surfing speeds as you would over WiFi. The TPro sucks *** as a multimedia phone and is big enough to kill someone with. The HD is the same or better in every way than the Pro and it has the best screen on any PPC.

If you want a POS brick, with piss poor battery, crappy buttons, and something that gets burning hot, buy the Pro, if you want a multimedia phone, save your money and get one of the next gen phones. The HD (or similar HTC device) or a phone based on the Tegra platform is going to be the phone of the future.

You know... if you right click the #7, you can copy the link so it goes straight to that post instead of having to go through and find the post, then type up which post it is, and paste the link... Just FYI.

And that's also a very credible source so thanks for the tip.

I guess I'm definitely skipping the Touch Pro for now... I'm about 99% sure that Sprint will grab this up before Verizon gets it. Sprint has a much better relationship with HTC than Verizon does as Sprint has consistently gotten every HTC device to launch before Verizon.

Oh and to the naysayer about it not being much of an upgrade, blah blah blah - early reviews have called this device the *TRUE* iPhone killer.

Sorry, this is not an upgrade... The specs are EXACTLY identical to the Touch Pro... Even the RAM and ROM is the same, along with the same processor. The I-Phone has a much faster processor, doesn't it? I think it is either 624 or 728. Personally, I am no-where near an I-Phone or even Apple-fan-boi, but I would expect HTC to at least bump up the chipset, and include on-board SSD similar to HTC Diamond. How is this really an upgrade? I mean, sure it includes a bigger screen, and much needed ports, but I don't think you'll find enough buttons on it, since it has even less then the HTC Diamond, if I am not mistaken.

Re: HTC Touch HD 480x800 WVGA! Look out Touch Pro!

but the unique thing about htc processor at 528 is that it isn't nowhere near to its full capabilities. I'm not sure that it is the same with apple, but one thing that does help apple is in many respects, the UI reminds me a lot like a palm. I'm not sure if more than one process can run at once because I haven't honestly tried it, but others have, and the results weren't too promising. That said...
skies the limit of what either phone (hd or pro) can do. But I do know some people at xda developers are porting the manilla 3d software for the diamond/pro

Don't need buttons now with the software the simulates button presses using the G-Sensor. The 528Mhz CPU can be overclocked quite well. The screen is MUCH bigge (which is one of my only complaints about the Diamond). And a non-removable SSD on a phone is a downgrade IMO. Having a microSD slot is a much better option.

Re: HTC Touch HD 480x800 WVGA! Look out Touch Pro!

I understand that, however, I was saying it should have both the Micro-SD and internal storage... The other devices have it that have been out for years, and are similar in specs., so why not the HD?

Re: HTC Touch HD 480x800 WVGA! Look out Touch Pro!

yThe Diamond does not have SSD. Iphones and Diamonds that has built in storage have Flash memory. it is slower than SSD. If U put SSD on the phone, it will be an upgrade because it is way too fast. It can handle a full OS like Vista so WM is a piece of cake.

Wireless N will never be implemented.atleast at the moment. Why? Carriers is in the business of selling DATA Plans. In the future, where hotspots will be everywhere and U have wireless N, U might not get Data plans anymore. Maybe we won't be getting Voice plans too. Because we can use the hotspot with wireless N on skype. Bad for business for carriers. So do not wish for wireless N.

Abelincoln, How did U figure 720P on HD? Do u know that U need 1280x720 to run 720p? Believe it or not, Iphone can handle 1080P output. This has been discussed before but some of U are confused about it. Iphone can handle 1920x1080 to be outputed on an HD TV. Now U people will say that our phone can do that too. The point that U do not understand is U don't just resize the video to 1920x1080. If U do that, the quality is still the same. U have to decode the h.264 codec which is the same quality as Blueray Disc. No phone can handle that as of now. Prolly Tegra equipped phone. But according to their specs, output is only 720P. Well, Iphone is being compared to PSP most of the time because of it's ability to play videos and it's 3d engine.

Edit: 1080P resolution played on Iphone's 3.5 screen with no problem. Somebody just need to come up with the cable to be outputed on an HDTV.

SD card is never an upgrade. Sure u can have more storage but u are giving up a lot of things too. Speed and security of the data. Even small counterfeit chinese company can put microSD in their phones. How can this be an upgrade? LOL

overclocking is unstable. it causes a lot of heat too. So really, overclocking is not recomended. Even PC have that warning.

If U have a 1080P 32" HDTV. U sold it and bought the same 1080P HDTV but this time it's 42". U woulnd't call that an upgrade? If that's not an upgrade to U, HD is not an upgrade then.
