Battery life is awesome now with beams disabled

A battery can get warm if you are in a low signal area. The phone has to crank out more juice to compensate for the lower signal. I am generally in a decent signal area, so I have not noticed any warming of my battery.

I see the signal affect battery issue every day with tons of different phones... Being I work inside a BestBuy (Giant Steel / Brick Cage) everyone's phones battery life takes a beating... So yeah, local area will affect it greatly...

Also I second the idea of keeping a charging source close by... It usually isnt too hard to find a computer to drag some juice out of, so you could just carry around a USB cable or keep a spare at the place of work, etc...

If they ever address the WM6 issue with the phone randomly turning on all the time, that would definitely help the battery life...

I have to agree that disabling the incoming beams does make a difference, at least in my case. Since I owned my mogul, I have always used my bluetooth 100%. I used to get about 24-30 hours before it would be completely dead. it was not until my wife was wanting to know how to use the beam function that I enabled my incoming beams. Since about that time of not uninstalling my beams, my phome would not last more than about 15 hours at best before needing a recharge from consistent moderate use including 100% bluetooth useage. I recently uninstalled the beams and after the same usage, my phone is only down to 70% of battery left after 24 hours. It may be to 60% after this post. I am not saying that everyone's mogul will react the same but in my case, the incoming beams being enabled made a big difference on battery life.

I agree that turning the beams off will increase battery life considerably. I used to get between 6- 8 hours of day out of a charge. My phone is always going, whether it's email or people calling me. It sucked wondering if I would be able to make it through the day without my phone dieing. Now depending on the day, I am getting between 10 - 14 hours of usage out of my phone.

Not being new to PPC or Treo, there are some things you do right out the box. As soon as I plugged mine in the charger, the very first thing I did was turn beam off; I dont use it anyway.

But it didnt matter. I didnt use my Mogul the first night I had it and the battery was well below 50% by morning.

Within the first 8 hours of my day, my Mogul needs to be charged.

I'm lucky if I can get 17 hours out of my battery. I use the net heavily, pull down email from three accounts, use the phone moderately and PDA heavily. to conserve battery, I've disabled IR Beam, no BT/WiFi, screen brightness at around 50-60%, auto off at 2 minutes, and turned off roaming. If Sprint service weak, or intermittent, it kills te battery. Not sure what can be done about that - seems it should poll the tower less frequent when coming in and out of coverage.

i use screen brightness at 40% backlight off 30 sec auto off 3 minutes. limited bluetooth, maybe 30-40 minutes a day, light email and web. I get around 1.5 days of battery life.
