Re: Mogul wifi chip dead?
I know exactly what you mean.
I actually created a similar thread here because I'm experiencing the exact same issue. Such as turning on the wifi, and finding ALL networks to be unavailable, even though you know for sure they ARE available. Not sure what to do either, I was told it was a possibility that there was an air bubble in the covering of the wifi antenna.

Re: Mogul wifi chip dead?
When you go to Wireless Lan settings and hit the Advanced tab, does it say "driver not loaded" with an empty MAC or do you have not connected and a MAC ID listed? I have the former on my device which makes me think the switch is toast. That's on my ebay mogul. My good working mogul only shows the former when I have the switch off. If I turn on the switch and turn off wifi via the software, I get the latter. So I'm trying to see if I can hardwire that connection where the wifi switch is located. Also when you say all the networks are unavailable, did you initially add those network profiles to the device or is your mogul populating them by itself?

Re: Mogul wifi chip dead?
Hi Guys,
What are the chances that the wifi chip isn't dead but rather its just the EEPROM contains a corrupted MAC address for the wifi card? I am experiencing the same problem. I switch on wifi. I get the little tower icon but no reception signal lines. In the wifi config window it doesn't detect any hotspots. I was reading through this thread and it appears that others have had the same problem (on various other HTC devices) but were able to repair it using the method in the thread. What do you think?

Re: Mogul wifi chip dead?
It's your hardware. I had the same issue with no WiFI (Unavailable) using several WM6.5 ROMs. Tried flashing several other WM6.5 ROMs. Flashed stock ROM. Relocked. Nothing worked. Just had my phone replaced for another issue and WiFi works fine with both stock and WM6.5 ROMs...

Re: Mogul wifi chip dead?
I had the same issue with my xv6800. The shield covering the wireless chips (nearest to the wireless switch on the side) was shorting the RF output to ground. I took it apart: 4 torks fine thread screws (one covered with a void sticker), remove the platic around keyboard, then 4 philips corse screws, slide the keyboard open, and seperate the pcb board. Pop off the wireless shield, in the notched inside corner there was thin piece of metal sticking down, cut that off, it shorts the RF to ground.

Re: Mogul wifi chip dead?
im not sure of a way to fix it but i just had to get a replacement for my mogul due to no wifi. Used to work fine and all was well, a few weeks ago i noticed that it would rarely connect and if it did would only last for a couple minutes.. This had me going bonkers so i checked my router settings probably 10 times, i moved my router thinking that was an issues. The switch activated the wifi to come on but i think there was a cracked chip or it was grounding out like others have mentioned, i did notice that if i shut my phone off and turned it back on, the very first try it would connect and stay connected, after that game over. Jjust take it in and get another one, they havent charged me ever to replace the mogul, so it should be free for you too im sure
