I found something out pertaining to this that may be important. I have been hard resetting like heck as well today, messing around with this and the error code 67.
The registry key WModemDUN. I set it to 1, cause it was set to 0 after a fresh hard reset. This option, to me would mean if it was actually enabled it would enable wmodem to dial up to the network instead of having to open ie first to make it connect Get this though. No matter how many times you set this key to 1, it changes itself back to 0 again!! So there is something in this phone that is resetting this registry key every time its changed!. try it.. try to set it to one, then close the registry editor, then open the reg editor back up again. it will be at 0 again. WHat do you guys make of this? and why doesnt the multi-nai key reset itself as well?? Edit, i can also confirm what someone else said. when you get error 67, open back up Internet connection sharing and hit connect, it will give you the error 67 again, but before you close the program HIT DISCONNECT! then close the program out and your internet should work again! So all you people that keep getting the error 67 code, its because you need to hit disconnect in ICS before you close the program, then everything should be alright. it is indeed some sort of profile thingy switching around as someone else said. Makes me wonder what that third registry key is, the one called CheckProfile. i've tried it at 1 and 0, cant tell a difference. Side Note: For those running linux, you can use activesync and tether using xp inside of virtualbox. When i plug the pda in, I do have native linux drivers that load, namely rndis_host and cdc_ether. Really it depends on which option though. In settings>connections>usb to pc, if you check the box in there, it will act as a network device and load the above named modules. And if i uncheck the box, it will load the ipaq module. So two totally different usb devices in one phone. Anyone who knows how to tether natively and/or has had any luck using synce to tether/sync natively please shout out. Let the real computer literate linux users be heard!. (you can use wm5storage on the phone to make it act like a removable usb device if you just want to transfer files to the phone.) but with the modules already there and auto-loading, i know native capability is there! |

Do you still use the sprint connection manager, or is there another method?

you mean on the phone right? I start up the internet sharing on the phone, hit connect , and then i plug the usb cable in. xp does the rest. I use the sprint pcs connection and not PAM
you will have to be more specific with your question, i dont get what you mean. |

Well, I dont see Internet Sharing on the phone... How-To s from sprints site say you have to use the Sprint COnnection manager (download and run on your computer) to connect to the net.

Well after resetting the rom, I discovered an entry on sprint support that says if you try to connect three times and fail, it autolocks you from connecting to the net for 20 mins.

After reading a few forums, I set out to hack away, did the reg changes and the IP multicast setting after getting my msl number from sprint, not sure if it matters. edit: (from xda discussion on tethering http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=318292): please verify these findings for yourself. Disabling multi-NAI will prevent the carrier from detecting your usage type and should prevent any charges to your account due to tethering. eventually i just opened ICS, set it to my regular connection, which is not PAM, hit connect, status said waiting for USB, plugged in the USB cable and XP identified the connection, installed the driver and I was on my way. varying results on an ev connection with 0-1 bars (will do more testing): 500/112 ... good enough for me for free |
