tried it again

did not change my settings to preferred but changed my nai to zero. only that one.

teathered as sprint, not as a modem.

connected great after i first initiated ie on the pda.

I disconnected my pda to answer a call.

I closed the ie and tether program all the way.

re-started ie and clicked on connect.

connected my usb and it got online just fine.

I was able to surf for about 30 seconds and my phone would say "data stopped by remote user".

I tried this a few times each time it seems like my pc is kicking my phone, or is it sprint?

i soft reset my phone and my computer with no better luck.

anybody else having this issue?

Should i change the other setting in the reg to "0" as well?

hmm

thx again.

Hmmm...I had a similar problem as well (in regards to sprintrjm).

I did all the tweaks and what not and it worked perfectly fine, tethered without a problem etc.. Yesterday at work I was browsing on my phone as usual, and I needed to bypass the network to download something so I plugged in my phone, attempted to tether and got the dreaded 67 error code. Then it worked. Weird, right?

Next day, same thing, but I get error message after message. Restored the data settings; nothing. After 2 hours on the phone with Sprint I sadly had to hard reset my phone and now it works perfectly again. I'm a little reluctant to try the tweak again simply because I do not feel like going through everything again if it bricks on me. I had the tweak done for a week so I have a hard time fathoming that it was the problem, but I can't see anything else being the culprit. The consensus seems like this works great...is there a possibility I just screwed it up? I would love to have this working, but would hate to have to hard reset my phone again.

Also, I asked the tech and he said it wasn't a black-listing or anything, so I'm not so sure that Sprint really detected anything on their end. maybe it was just a reg. problem, who knows? I just don't want this happening to anyone else; it really sucks.

JohnnyOnTheSpot,

I have the same problem you did, I made the above changes, and everything seems to work, the next day however the 6800 would not want to connect to the net, I was getting the Error 67, what I did to fix it was to launch the Internet Sharping APP, and had it try to connect and after I exited the APP my unit connected normally.

I have a felling it is some sort of internal profile that did not get switched back after using the Internet Sharping APP the previous day.

Hmm, that makes a ton of sense. I'm still going to hold out until this is completely confirmed as a fix just because I hate restoring everything on my phone, but that definately makes sense. Thanks a lot man, and hopefully this is it.

I have a serious doubt that using PAM over Sprint PCS doesn't make a difference either. When you check the settings in 'connections' - 'manage my current connections', they both have the same settings. To verify this, I just did speed test with both of them. Sprint PCS was 485/128 using PA speakeasy. PAM was 444/112 using speakeasy and 470/128 using San Fran (speakeasy in PA was showing high load at the time...)

Just a thought. I might try some more to see what happens. BTW, I'm on a 6800, have tethered for a month now via ICS, performed no PAM egistry hacks nor ## functions, and I haven't seen a single charge on my bill.

For speed comparisons, I'm in Sunnyvale, CA 94089. DEUCE

ICS, eh? I've never heard of it but it seems worth a shot. Is there a link for this anywhere?

Pretty sure he just means the Intenet Sharing program built in.

Unless something has changed in the last year and a half the only way sprint can tell you're doing PAM is based on your data usage. If you use over X ammount it will flag the system and they will start running audits to see habitual use and how much is used per session/time frame.
