Still no fix
I contacted Sprint and HTC 866-449-8358 within a week of the release of this unit. We've got over 35,000 hits on this topic between forums and I don't know how many people have called HTC (I'm guessing not enough) but still no patch.

Again, HTC doesn't support their devices. What you have is what you get. The Mogul's bugs will never be fixed by HTC. It will be up to the community to hack the ROM with the necessary fixes.

Alltel Update Seemed to do the trick
I just updated my phone from WM5 to WM6. It seems to have fixed any BT issues that I was having. I am running the Scosche in car hands free kit, and it is serving as both BT hands free as well as Media Player. While using WM5 both the audio in Media Player and phone conversations were terrible. Since the upgrade, both seem to be working great!
I'm simply shocked that HTC and Alltel got the update out so fast. ROM 2.14.671.3 ROM Date 8/20/07 Radio Version: 1.40.00 Hope this helps in some way. |

my bluetooth volume is so low i can barely hear callers. tried plantronics 655 and jabra bt150 and both are very low.
also edited hklm-software-microsoft-bluetooth-audiogateway-spkvolume to 15 and still no change. |

I take it back!
I jumped the gun. When i first installed the update my bluetooth worked great with my scosche in car unit; both as hands free and BT stereo. Not anymore. Audio from windows media player seem to work amazing for awhile and then I need to reinstall the bluetooth device to get it to work again. The audio within a call is always terrible though!
Can anyone think of why the bluetooth connection would transmit great sound via the bluetooth stereo setting and terrible sound through hands free setting. It just doesnt make sense. |

Sprint knows about the problem, HTC knows about the problem but both say to call the other. If you call most reps they say they don't know about the issue and they want to waste your time resetting the phone, pulling the battery, clearing storage - all a waste of time as this is a known issue yet for some reason this isn't in any notifications Sprint employees can seem to find. HTC says Sprint said they wanted to have full control of technical support for the phone so you have to call them. Both are doing a pretty $#!@++* job of doing anything to communicate to the customers, test with customers, communicate internally so Sprint reps know about the issue. Why is this such a hard item to grasp?
Here's an idea since Sprint can't do anything technical and HTC says Sprint wants to own this baby - why not just pick another brand than HTC and let us trade our phones in for something that works. I'll be happy to supply you with a list of phones not made by HTC that work well. Perhaps it will encourage Sprint and HTC to work together if HTC can't keep Sprint as a client and Sprint might learn to pass support to the manufacturer since their tech group can't identify which item on a table is a cellphone and which is a tape dispenser. |

The part of this equation that I do not understand is why does my phone transmit my music with crystal clear perfection, but transmit phone conversations like garbage? The scosche box that runs to my head unit controls both, so does this mean that the phone conversation is interfering with the bluetooth connection?
Just food for thought, I am not capable of answering the question. Maybe someone else here is. |
