Got an issue today. Just started really playing the my 6800 and it ran out of memory. Now I'm running it stock right now, now added software or anything. I noticed in the memory settings that none of the programs I exit out of are shutting down. They still show they are running and sucking up precious memory.

Anyone have any ideas? Am I doing something wrong when I close the program using the "x" button?

Thanks,

Pocket PCs don't close programs by default with the X button. Its meant to make it easier to multitask.

Get something like Wisbar Advance that has close functionality built in or use the memory manager to close things you aren't using.

This isn't really a bug it's a "function". It's how it's always been with ppc's. If you want to fully exit out of the program you got to goto the memory and close it manually. There is a program you can use though will allow you to close a program via the X button.
Check that program out, thats what most of us have installed to help deal with this "feature". Hope this helps you out.

there is a much easier way then doing any of that. instead of clicking on the x button hold it down for a second, you can close all the apps running or close certain ones, it lists all running. even when your at the today screen(i think thats what its called ive only had a ppc for a few hours) when there is no 'x' you can just click and hold where the 'x' should or would be.

I don't know if this can count as a bug but when I installed the threaded SMS app I lose the phone screen. I can't dial or find the dialer screen. I get notification of an incoming call but nothing else shows up on the screen. Anyone care to guess what might be causing this?

I have PPC6800. ive noticed that if the phone is plugged in charging and you have the alarm set. its doesnt go off LOL.. but if you dont have it plugged in and you have it set it will. Guys who have PPC6800 try this out to see if its just mine. Ive woke up late for work one day and when i went to hit the power button that you can turn the screen on and off. Guess what the alarm went off. i hope sprint fixes this glitch.

PocketBreeze
SPB Backup

Resco Explorer
Resco Registry
HTC Home Plugin
HTC Audio Manager
HTC Dialpad
Any differences from what you had before when the issues presented itself?

Also, I may be crazy or may have overlooked it because of frustration and being tired... but I notice after the hard reset that when you soft reset there's an animation of the Sprint logo and there's an HTC splash screen...

I could swear that when I had the issues, when I soft reset these were not playing themselves.
This is the same basic configuration that I had before the endless loop.

I don't remember the animations playing after every soft reset. I do remember it playing after the hard reset. I stopped playing with the phone in the afternoon since I was runing errands. I'll take a look and see if the animation comes up after a soft reset.

In Memmaid click the Start Up Programs tab (fourth tab) > then click the downward pointing arrow and select "Start Up Services". The dll is right on top, and will have safemode in the"Type Service area below the list. Just click delete, and soft reset with any app.

I have soft reset numerous time already with no issues, and boot up seems much quicker. And please remeber to det the name of the dll before you delete it.
I don't have the DLL in my startup (being I don't have iLauncher's safemode enabled, I didn't expect to find it ) and I don't think I had it before when I was having the looping problem.

I've also had the reset loop problem. I believe the culprit is the micro sd card. If I leave it in, the device will reset continuously, but if I take it out after resetting the first time it will not loop. (I found this out by chance since I have a 2 gig card that went bad that I was constantly removing and reinserting while trying to figure out what the problem was.)

The dll will not show up in your Start Up Folder, The only way to get at it (that I know of) is through MemMaid. And this is a by defualt with iLauncher, I never activated it either.

FYI, I updated my pervious post with the dll name, and a little more info.

I have woken up late when my alarm did not go off. I have not tried this with the device unplugged. I will try that tomorrow.
