Need advice on the best BASIC rom...

So I've decided I want a different rom for my baby. I have the standard sprint-issue rom now, and it's just not cutting it anymore. I'm sick of the bugs & the completely random slowdowns & lockups. I need some advice on which rom would be best for me, I've looked through the roms on the ftp section but there are just SO MANY to choose from that I'm overwhelmed, lol... I'm somewhat new to WM but in the 2 months I've had this phone I've gotten to know it very well & I'm quite familiar with it's inner workings. I have flashed roms before so I somewhat know what I'm doing but I'd still like a few opinions from some 'seniors'

What I want- a nice basic, STABLE, fully-tested rom with the stock functions, but more available ram & no bloatware. I don't need Manilla built in or anything like that, in fact I'd like the most bare-bones rom available. I like to be able to choose my own options so having a basic foundation to start from is what I want.

Can anyone recommend a good one? Thanks in advance.

I've liked DCD's roms. I'd recommend either dcd 3.2.6 or 3.3.4 with radio 3.42.5. Get them here http://dcd1182.n715dp.com/index.php?dir=titan/roms/

Nuerom is another that I know is gonna get recommended, but I've never run it.

I would go with DCD as well i have used others but his always seam to come out on top.

Yeah DCD's is the best BASIC ROM. It includes nearly nothing, making it VERY fast and snappy. Add your programs via cab's and do some of your reg tweaking and you're ready to roll!

nuerom3 is the best! u gotta donate but it can disable the camera to free up 8-10 megs of ram

Got the cabs installed but what reg tweaks in particular?

I think he means do whatever reg tweaking you normally do(IF you do any at all, I do, but not everyone does), not that you HAVE to do anything to the registry.

OK, I feel stupid admitting this, but I'm not exactly sure how to install the new rom. I've been reading a bunch of stuff about radios & bootloaders & how you can brick your phone by having the wrong ones, and I've got myself all spooked about doing it now. Which bootloader do I need for the latest dcd rom? How exactly do I go about all this? I have a bootloader labeled No2Chem 2.47(I bought the phone from a fellow PPCGeek, so that explaines that), will that one work for this? Also I think I have radio 3.42.02. Those numbers come up next to an R when I reboot, anyway, so I'm assuming that's my radio version.

My head hurts. God I feel dumb.
