I have tried your instructions to a "T", and it still takes about 5 minutes or so to get a lock. And even when I do, it's only 2 or 3 sats. Will using Alltels settings make the connection faster and locks more plentiful? Will I have to make changes to the registry as well? Also, with the new Cricket PDE server mentioned a couple of posts back, should I change anything else in QPST, like PDE Transport or Position Calculation? Thanks!! |

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
hi
thanks for this. was a little overwhelmed at first but it went very smoothly. my only problem was that qpst did not write the telus settings to the registry and i had to do it manually. this was after qpst said that the settings had be successfully written. before it would take 10 mins to lock on a max of 3 sats, now less than a min to get 5 or more. thanks for this jeff |

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
Hi everybody! I've just purchased a new Sprint HTC Hero with bad ESN and would like to flash it to metro pcs. I've read some threads about it but I haven't found my phone model there so that's why I decided to write here.
I called metro customer service and they said that they can flash it for $10 but I will not get internet, gps, mms or other services supported by the phone, only calls and text. So is it worth bringing them phone and let them flash it instead of doing it myself? If I let them do it then will I be able to make internet, gps and other stuff working myself? Or is it better to do everything myself? And if the last option is what you suggest I'd really appreciate if somebody give me a link for the flashing instructions. Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated! p.s. Is it possible to save my existing metro pcs phone number? |

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
I tried this again (never could get it to work before), and with the Alltel server on my Verizon phone, it works awsome. I open tomtom, it says no device for a few seconds, then it finds it and says poor gps signal for 5 seconds then fully connected.
Everything I try, after about 5-7 seconds I get connected and works perfect (so perfect I am afraid to reflash a new build on my phone) and more sats than I could fine before.. Before this. about 5 to 10 min before it would find my location and other times it would never find it. Edit: Anyone on Verizon use this...5 second locks for me on a titan... Working as of 2/26/2010 Alltel: (credit goes to Blaine12 at PPCgeeks) PDE IP Address = 205.142.19.100 PDE Port Number = 8888 PDE Transport = IP Position Calculation = mobile Last edited by DavidinCT; 02-26-2010 at 02:16 AM. |
