Re: MetroPCS Web and MMS on PPC-6800

I am about to move to China, so I need to help my son set up metroPCS service before I leave. It was a pain (and a learning experience) getting my old PPC6700 flashed to metroPCS, as you can see in my previous post, but I got it done and it works doing phone and text messaging.

What doesn't work yet is Internet access and MMS. I have tried doing many of the things suggested in this long thread, but the PPC fails to connect and stay connected. I have tried the Simple IP, the variety of passwords and no password, the editing suggestions, and quite frankly I am getting lost as to all the changes I have made from the settings it had originally.

My son has the $45 plan, so I am not scamming. I know it can be done because others have yelled "Eureka" right here in this thread. But for me it's close-but-no-cigar. What I would love to have is a step-by-step instruction for setting up the remaining service.

I can follow instructions, and if I get the details I need to make this work I am even willing to write up a set of instructions that are easy to follow. That way others can benefit from what I learn.

So, anybody think they can point me at ALL the things I need to do to take a PPC 6700 from phone-and-text to full functionality?

Re: MetroPCS Web and MMS on PPC-6800

okay well i dnt have a 6700 but i know with the 6800 it was easier for me 2 jus flash a non sprint rom 2 my phone so tht way it wouldnt keep tryin to go back to the sprint connection settings. if u dnt want to go the flashing route try going to settings>connections>connections>advanced>select network....the stock settings (sprint or verizon or w/e) wll most likly be selected...hit edit then general and tap delete settings...if for some reason the delete settings buton isnt selectable then try connecting to ur metro settings and then go back to the general window for sprint and u should b able to delete it tht way. idk but wen i du tht sometimes it comes back with the mogul but with the touch it doesnt so hopefully it wont for the apache..lemmme kno how it goes

Re: MetroPCS Web and MMS on PPC-6800

MetroPCS Flashed Touch Pro CDMA
I copied this from somewhere on the internet, and edited a few things, this is how it worked for my TOUCH PRO,

REMEMBER - make sure you have the $45 plan, it includes internet and mms (picture messenging)

STEP 1 *** ------------------------------------------------------------- ***

1: FIRST FLASH YOUR PHONE TO METROPCS... SO THE NEXT STEP WILL WORK...

2: Open your phone PAD and DIAL ##778# then select " EDIT " and enter your unlock code. should be = 000000

Set the following values:

M.IP Settings:
MIP_MODE = Simple IP Only

M.IP Default Profile:
NAI = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
Home Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)
Primary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)
Secondary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)

Security:
HDR AN AUTH User Id = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
PPP USER ID = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
PPP PASSWORD = metropcs

STEP 2 *** ------------------------------------------------------------- ***

WAP = ( INTERNET SETTINGS )

1: Goto Settings -> Connections -> Connections

2: Remove any Connections that are there, ( if u use a custom rom = they should have ( Network ) = use this one, DON'T DELETE )

3: Goto Connections and delete any existing connections and setup a new one using the following settings:

Number to dail = #777
Username: yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
Password: metropcs
Domain: (Leave Blank)

Select Proxy Settings and enter the following values:
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (http)
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (wap)
wap.metropcs.net port:443 (secure wap)
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (socks)

4: Back in the "Connections" screen where you have two tabs at the bottom of the screen of "Tasks" and "Advanced", go to Advanced, click on "Select Networks" and select the name of the Connection you just setup.
For Example: if you leave as Sprint or Network then choose that one as your internet connection and do it for both settings.

STEP 3 *** ------------------------------------------------------------- ***

MMS = ( PICTURE MESSAGES )
MAKE SURE YOUR WEB IS WORKING PROPERLY (ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS) AS YOU CAN'T HAVE MMS WITHOUT WORKING INTERNET!!!!!
Remove/Uninstall any existing MMS composer you have attempted to setup. Also a good idea to remove any registry keys it may have created that are left behind after the uninstall.

1: Install Arcsoft MMS version 5.0.70.00 from Verzion or Sprint. I attached the one I use.

2: Open your Messaging and click on the SMS/MMS option.

3: Click on "Menu" and select "MMS Options" then select the "Servers" tab.

4: Add a new server with the following settings: or rename SPRINT to METROPCS
Server Name: metropcs
Gateway: wap.metropcs.net
Port number: 3128
Server address:http://mms.metropcs.net:3128/mmsc
Connect via: SELECT EITHER THE CONNECTION YOU SETUP ABOVE "NETWORK" OR "The Internet"
Send limit: 399K

5: Click "Done" and then set the new server as default.

6: Using a Registry Editor edit the following values:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]
DELETE KEY -> "X-sprint-MDN" or rename and use the next line below...
ADD STRING -> "X-metropcs-MDN"="XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number )
ADD STRING -> "X-DEVICE-MIN"="1XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number WITH the 1 in front of it )

*** ------------------------------------------------------------- ***

internet, gps, works through data and wifi..
but data gives me a problem no access to data... but.. yes the good part is...
this goes away after 5pm till 6 or 7am... so that means i can use it for about 12 hours a day...
also have to change some other settings... I dont follow 1 and 2... this don't bother me with my custom rom...

WAP
1: Check your Windows\startup folder for "HTC_CM_Guardian.lnk", which is a shortcut to Windows\HTC_CM_Guardian.exe. If the shortcut exists delete it. If not then you probably have a newer Sprint ROM which doesn't have the shortcut to launch that application. It is still launching it in some other way however and I have not been able to figure it out from searching forums and the web. The general consensus is to replace the file with a dummy file that I've attached (extract from the zip). Download the attached file and replace "Windows\HTC_CM_Guardian.exe" with the dummy file which will prevent it from running. NOTE: This file is what resets your Sprint connection to its default settings despite editing these settings. Disabling this file by deleting or replacing it is critical. You may need to use a program such as Resco File Explorer or another File Explorer utility to overwrite/delete/rename Read-Only or ROM files.
2: Rename the following files and folders: Windows\iota.exe ---> windows\iotaOLD.exe Windows\iotaconf.txt ---> windows\iotaconfgOLD.txt Program Files\IOTA ---> Program Files\IOTAOLD NOTE: renaming the IOTA folder is probably all that is needed however I found the files as well and renamed them for good measure and haven't had a problem.

3: Open your phone and enter ##778#, select "EDIT" and enter your unlock code.
4: Set the following values: M.IP Settings: MIP_MODE = Simple IP Only M.IP Default Profile: NAI = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com Home Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save) Primary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save) Secondary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save) Security: HDR AN AUTH User Id = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com PPP USER ID = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com PPP PASSWORD = metropcs

1: Install Arcsoft MMS version 5.0.70.24 from Verzion. Too big to post here and I'm a bit nervous about the whole 7 day ban thing so you'll have to find it on your own. Google for "GC VZW Arcsoft MMS 5.0.70.24" and you should find it for download.
2: Open your Messaging and click on the SMS/MMS option.
3: Click on "Menu" and select "MMS Options" then select the "Servers" tab.

Hope this works, If I helped, hit the thanks button...
I've tried to follow all of these directions and I have gotten the internet to work twice, but those 2 times were days apart. The biggest problem that I am having is finding the files that need to be changed. I am unable to locate the htc_guardian file and I am also unable to find any of the "iota" files. Is there any special program or tricks to find these files. Can someone please help me with this, I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND, everyone makes it sound so easy but I just don't see it. I have a htc touch pro, and using mighty rom 4.8.
