Might be worth it to you to buy a new housing for your mogul? It comes with a new keyboard attached. In theory your connections are good if your keyboard works, it's just a bad LED. I make no guarantee. Ha. But you can buy the housing (with keyboard) for $30-$50. Check ebay or search google. I'd rather spend the money to find out than have no backlight.

Re: Instructions for taking apart a mogul.

I just completed the process using this tutorial in about 30 minutes. I replaced my screen and it wasn't that hard. A torx6 is mandatory though.

Pics of my phone through the steps in case anyone needs a reference point:

Re: Instructions for taking apart a mogul.

Instructions are great. Just took my 6800 all the way down as I had to clean the back of the main buttons. The back (left side of circle) function quit working. After a clean of the contacts on the back, everything good as new.

Only caution is to make sure you do this in an area where all parts, especially the tiny screws don't get away. I lost one, the single one holding the plate on the screen side but it had no ill adverse as the plastic plate on top of it is well secured. I found it after fully reassembled. Will hold onto it if it feels loose.
