Re: Screen Replacement
i have taken a couple of the mogul apart, mine several times. here is some tip to remember:
1. once you have removed the first 4 screws, slide the phone/keyboard out and pry from the top of the phone due to the usb port is sticking out a bit at the bottom. remember to remove the micro sd card. from there on, its pretty easy. just take it one step at a time. 2. once you have taken the phone apart and replace your screen. there is a little piece of middle that hold the bottom of the phone and the top of the phone together. the ribbin video cable goes through the square hole of this metal. the metal is pretty sharp and each time you slide the keyboard in and out, the ribbin cable rub against the metal. i have seen it done damaged to my dad's mogul and i believe this is a bad design. i recommend tape off the sharp metal edge so it doesnt scratch away the ribbon cable. i have open several moguls just to do this mod. 3. once you have replaced your screen and start putting the phone back. the step when you put the keyboard back on, i believe you have to slide either the left or the right side in first against the two small metal clips, or else you phone wont come back together flushed like it was. i dont remember this exact part, but you just have to watch out for it in this step. 4. 1 person on this board have reported that the screen has lack of seal under the bezzel and one drop of liquid that went to the side of the screen can sip inside and damage the screen. if you can find a way to seal around the screen under the bezzel, it would be a good idea. 5. also the blinking led, you may want to put "some" tape over it to dimm it down. it s blinking too bright at night. good luck |

Re: Screen Replacement
To me it sounds like you didn't get the 'video' cable plugged back in all the way. In my experience, ribbon cables can be quite the pain! If you don't get it completely seated in the socket (even though they may look like it is) they will have all kinds of weird stuff happen... or just not work at all.
I would take the phone back apart and see if one of the ribbons has come loose, or disconnected some how. If that doesn't seem to be it, then you may have ESD'd it to death. To which there is no recovery from.

Re: Screen Replacement
Yes, my only suggestion is to go back and check your cables. Make sure they are all fully seated in place. It may be that your "new" screen could be bad.
If you want to part with your phone for a few days, you can ship it to me and I will be happy to give it a once over for ya.

Re: Screen Replacement
i figured out what the problem was.. as i was in the surgery i clipped off the thing that holds the ribbon cable in tight.. my dad and i have pushed the battery where the cable is and it makes enough pressure to work.. any ideas what i could but behind the battery to keep pressure on it and so that the screen will work? Also.. please nothing that can catch on fire

Re: Screen Replacement
Hmm, I would use something sticky on one side and with some substance to it. Thickness depends on how cramped the gap is between battery and cable.
A felt pad of moderate thickness might work, these pads are used to line some drawers - you get that at Home Depot. To fit a bigger gap, for a bit more thickness, you can look to the pads that are used to apply to corns, bunions, etc. These stick really good and have saved my arse in the past for sundry home fixit applications. You get these pads at the drugstore. I wouldn't worry about a fire hazard with your phone for this application - what you need to worry about is conductance, and these materials are not very conductive.
