Re: Prl 60613 6/17/08

Folks,

I have some doubt as to whether this PRL is GA or at least appropriate with the stock radio 3.35.04 on the Mogul.

I updated from 60610 to 60613 via the EPST tool on ROM, and performed a soft reset. When the device came back up, it rapidly acquired the EVDO-A tower near my home. As before, the signal was rather weak. So, far now worries.

Things got very strange as I drove across the north end of Atlanta, however. In areas with 1X only services, I could neither get data nor voice. Soft reset didn't work. I resorted to pulling over to the side of the road, dropping back to 60610 and reseting. Telephony and data services are now working again.

-Doc

EDIT:

Ok, I tried it again, and then forced an OTA. Sprint Vision got reprovisioned and my subsequent drive across town went without a hitch.

Unfortunately, my current ROM does not allow ## codes! Is there a work around to this or is my best bet calling Sprint again? Both guys I talked to sounded like they hardly knew what I was talking about.

Re: Prl 60613 6/17/08

So what the heck is 40411?!?!?! It's not even on the PRL list.

WHat's option #2 to 60613? And btw, someone told me that 60711 was not valid for phones. I had been running on that for many months.

TIA,
tsp

Umm.. 3/17/08. That's why my post was titled "Prl 60613 6/17/08"

Anyhow, folks just use the PRL file that was linked in the thread, load it to your phone using ##775# MSL. It works. Not complex.

Anyhow, the 60711 PRL was intended to be used for wireless cards... it's not really going to hurt anything per se, but you'd be better off using the PRL that's intended for your handset.

The 40411 PRL befuddles me. I've only see a couple handsets sporting that particular one, and they were all SCP6600's (Katanas) a week or two ago... but yeah the CS reps won't have any info on that PRL because it's not in their PRL history in their care tools.

Yes, the number code merely calls up the EPST tool that is already on your device...\Windows\EPST.exe. Just run it directly.

I hope that the PRL works better for you than me. In case it doesn't you can revert to stock by running \Extended_ROM\signed_071210_7500_SPCS_2.00_PRL6061 0.sa.CAB

-Doc

EDIT: PRL 60613 is working fine for my now. No issues at all.

Re: Prl 60613 6/17/08

After 4 Sprint *2 tries I decided to do my own update with the zip file included in this thread. File is installed and I'm up and running. Will leave it this way for a trial run but seems ok so far.

Thanks to all,
tsp

That said, I would not assume that the PRL will work properly with anything but a Mogul since it is so new. In addition, I've got some serious doubts as to whether or not this is a test PRL anyway.

-Doc
I'm doubting it's a test PRL. I wouldn't THINK they'd put in in production otherwise. I've seen several other people on other forums with Treo's and such stating they were updated to this PRL by Sprint. I also confirmed with level 2 support that this a new PRL update. The first couple of times I called to get it pushed and they sent me 40411 which is for god knows what. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else. Wish I would have kept a copy. Anyways, the 4th time I called I didn't give the tech the prl number, I asked for an update then asked for him to read me the version. He specifically told me this was a new release, 60613.

Personally I wouldn't that worried about trying it out. It's a PRL update, easy to roll back. Not like a ROM update. If you're working fine, don't update. If you think you could benefit, update.

Also of note, got a reply back from Corolada PRL they've posted 60613

***Edit***
If anyone gets that 40411 PRL again please let me know, I'm wondering what that one is for.

***Edit2***

Upon Googling, 40411 appears to be for the Razor, IE non smart phone. Doubt it's anything good.

unvivid, the 40411 PRL was used for MVNO's. Just asked the "powers that be" and they confirmed it heh. Now we're just trying to figure out why some of our customers were having that PRL on their handset.
