I don't know where the rumor that EvDO Rev A added simultaneous voice and data came from but its most certainly not true.
EvDO does not support simultaneous voice and data streams and at this point, its not looking like it ever will since everyone is migrating off to entirely different platforms. The ONLY 3G solution that supports this is HSPA. No amount of hacking is going to fix the problem, the chipset isn't built to support it at all.
