Data and Voice same time with rev A
 

I looked and didn't see an answer but can you use data and voice simultaneously with EV-DO RevA. It is rumored to be possible but I have not heard. Thanks in advance.

the closest i've come to this on my phone (which someone would have to tell me is really 'true' simulteneous data and voice) is when i'm tethering online, my phone will still accept incoming calls, and i can even take the call and still keep my connection online for about 1-2 mins before internet drops... i've done this numerous times. at first i thought i was going crazy, until it happened to me a few more times.

thoughts?

No, it is not VOIP, it is simply data and voice transmitting at the same time, or it appears at the same time to the user.

good question i was wondering that to does it works becuase ev rev o wouldent doit but i heard rev a can but just wanna make sure

Coming from what I've read, Rev. A is capable of both voice and data transmission simultaneously but it has to be enabled through the carrier via hardware upgrades.

what you say is true, it is possible but it has to be enabled thru the carrier.... now someone answer my question, does what i experience qualify as such?

By the sound of it, that sounds like it qualifies as Rev. A BUT I can't explain to you as to how/why that happens. Care to try it again, and while on an active voice call, try a mobile speed test and/or streaming video and see what happens? If you or someone else can duplicate that situation and can figure out how to keep the connection while tethered, I'm sure someone here can figure out how to keep it that while while NOT tethered!

my gauge for wheter or not it was working was when i had a few friends call at set times while i was downloading a file, and streaming a show at the same time. if i got off within the 1-2 mins everything performed as normal w/no drops. but if i stayed on the phone longer than that both the download would fail and the show would stop streaming... never tried running a speed test though... i'll do it when i get home.

all of this was done using the standard Internet Sharing program running Nuerom v2 (build 5049)

sounds like no. video buffer prob ran out and dl timed out.
