If you are going the insurance route, Sprint won't do anything. They will tell you to call Asurion or whatever company is providing the insurance this week, and everything will be done through them.

Sprint doesn't handl eany thing to do with insurance. Usually the insurance company will send you a phone and no battery or any other accessories...so yeah, you can keep your old battery
