Question about Sprint Insurance

So, I dropped my mogul this weekend and completely destroyed the thumbwheel.

Thankfully, I have phone insurance through Sprint. Couple of questions...

1) I have 3.17 on there. Should I be concerned about returning the phone with that?

2) I was thinking about stealing the battery out of the broken phone before I sent it back. Is this something they will charge me for, or will it just not matter?

I might be overly paranoid here, but I just want to make sure I don't get billed $600 bucks for a new phone.

If you are going the insurance route, Sprint won't do anything. They will tell you to call Asurion or whatever company is providing the insurance this week, and everything will be done through them.

Sprint doesn't handl eany thing to do with insurance. Usually the insurance company will send you a phone and no battery or any other accessories...so yeah, you can keep your old battery ;)

I would flash back to the OEM ROM and take it to a repair facility, they should cover that w/o going through Asurion and paying the deductible.

Actually, they told me they were out of phones so they had to send me a brand new kit. So, the end result should be that I now have double of everything! :) Well, except for the phone which I need to send back.

i waterlogged my phone. The instructions said to send the battery with the phone, so I did. Even though I wanted to keep it, I didn't have a way to charge it anyhow, so it wasn't a big deal to me.

A water-damaged phone would presumably also have a water-damaged battery...so they should have sent you a new battery along with the phone.

Usually if you break something, but the battery is still good, they send the phone and nothing else.

Insurance is such a crapshoot though. I was supposed to have a BB 8830 replaced via insurance, and it never showed up so after 10 days Sprint just gave me a new one in the store. They let me keep everything except the phone.

the instructions seemed to be a default pack-in mailer. In other words, not tailored to my own particular circumstances. I too got a new retail boxed mogul. I didn't expect such fast service. They said 2 days but the next morning the UPS guy dropped it off. Back in business, hell yeah!

I left 3.16 on mine when I sent it in because I didn't have much of a choice. I doubt the people who process the returned phones even know or care about aftermarket ROMs. I'm sure they just reflash everything back to default or something.

best of luck.

I kind of had the same thing happen to my 6700, the volume slide on the side broke. I had insurance, took it in and they gave me a new phone on the spot. I ask the rep how much are batteries, she took it out of my old phone and gave it to me. I doubt that is the norm, but I think it was pretty cool of her.

I guess I'll just keep the battery and see what happens.
