Re: Dropping data connection after new rom..

Well, rev A _is_ fully functional in a lot of areas, at least with Sprint. They have other rev A devices aside from the Titan.

Anyway, I had this problem for the first week or two on 3.16, but my data connections are solid now. The only time I drop a connection for the most part is if I lose signal.

you see they are testing rev-a system through sprint in my area before launch right now,, and me being on alltel, what that causes is i go from full signal to zero signal to half signal back to full...

what the data guys are telling me from both companies, is that with me being on alltel,, im using allels ev,, when sprint cycles their system my phone exchanges to sprint tower for faster connection, then back to alltel,, this may be whats causing problem,,, it is basically de-registering me on the data side.. dropping my ip in other words...
also as soon as they started this testing in my area i have been experiencing multiple duplicate incoming/outgoing text messages,, no amount of reprovisioning on my account could fix... asked the data guys why my phone and not my wifes razor,,, they said its because my phone is constantly switching between the two towers for data,, possibly causing my message problems..
I can understand this from a network engineering standpoint,, but not sure how much i trust either of them

Re: Dropping data connection after new rom..

Well when I went to the GPS rom I had a ton of connectivity issues and it would always drop the connection. But Alltels' Prl should have the phone locked to an Alltel tower because it goes Alltel Ev-Sprint Ev-Alltel 1x-Sprint 1x-VZW 1x so if an Alltel tower has ev it shouldn't switch to a Sprint tower. Thus dropping the connection.

Re: Dropping data connection after new rom..

Ok got a wicked update..

This may help other alltel titan owners with the gps rom if they are having my same problem but im not sure..

i remembered that i am on the national freedom plan on alltel which means that with alltel im free roaming in the u.s. and the tech guys had said it was my fluctuating between sprint and alltel towers that was killin my data connection.. so i downloded the latest sprint ev prl last night and put it on my alltel titan.. rebooted phone and had ev symbol and luckily i had no roaming symbol.. just to make sure i was actually roaming on the sprint network i made a call without adding area code and sprint msg came up saying i must use areacode when placing a call.. so now i knew i was latched to the sprint network roaming 100% now its time to test data.. so far after a night and a day i havent lost a connection yet.. tada! so now i can atleast roam on sprint and keep my data working until alltel finishes reva rollout then ill switch back to alltels prl. i wouldnt suggest doing this unless you are on the national freedom plan with alltel. in other words if you put sprint prl on your phone and get a roaming triangle i wouldnt proceed this could either cost you or make alltel mad at ya.. and also this may not work in your area. it is dependent on sprints and alltels network status at the time. because for me alltel is just rev0 and sprint is running tests on revA so doing this made my connection more stable but may act different in your market.
