Couldn't tell ya. I can tell you this: eventually I learned to *always* do a hard reset after a flash because it apparently doesn't wipe everything brand spanking new and clean. I don't know what lingers or why but if I don't do a hard reset after a flash, the phone acts all squirrely, like freezing, losing signal, etc. If I do a hard reset after a flash, it works perfectly.

Another thing, while I'm here...when a flash is done and the phone is restarting, simply holding down the softkeys then doesn't seem to be good enough. You have to wait until the phone is restarting from the flash, like in the green screen, then hold down the softkeys and press the reset button. Then it will ask if you want to wipe the phone clean.

Ok, I did a hard reset and checked my ROM version right away, it showed 2.17. I ran SKTools restore, now my ROM shows 2.09 again. The ROM date shows 11/18/07 both times, and I still get the new HTC and Sprint boot screens. So am I running 2.17 or 2.09? I'm not sure how to tell, and am thinking the only way around this is to do a selective restore or to start over and reinstall one program at a time...the latter I hope not to have to do!

Any other ideas? (I know, stop whinning and just start from scratch! )

I wonder if this will be fixed with the Rev A ROM. It seems to me that this is a WM6 issue and wouldn't suprise me if that is why we're hearing about a 6.1 update already. If it is a WM6 issue I hope they include 6.1 (if that even fixes the memory leak) in the REV A ROM

Nevermind. I think that was only WM Office 6.1.

Can anyone confirm that the old tethering hack still works?

I wouldn't be surprised if Sprint is waiting until a counter-measure is in place before allowing HTC to release the EVDO Rev A ROM in Q1 2008, but they decided to release *this* ROM early with tethering still hackable just to address the major bugs.

Can someone confirm that soft-resetting before the sprint junkware customizations take place won't get rid of something necessary for the phone?
