Re: iGuidance 4.0 & Mogul
This thread is way out of date, but the trick to running at least iGuidance 3 is to use GPSGate and run a virtual Com port 2 - GPSGate will get the info on 4 and share it out to other programs on com2. There are some techical reasons for this, and if you search this site you will find the answers. For those that are having issues with iGuidance 3 with the update and it is not working smooth and not updating while you drive this is your issue. As to not starting do a search for AstroGPSLauncher - there is also a Mortscript setup to launch GPSGate, AstroGPSLauncher and then iGuidance while resetting your power and backlight settings. iGuidance does not know how to "turn on " the GPS hence until you run Googlemaps or someother program it won't work. Funny thing is GPSGate won't do it either so AstroGPSLauncher is what you need. I've tried iGuidance 4, but the voice prompts jumped at the start and it wouldn't say the street names and my phone stops working while its running - in iGuidance 3 with the update none of these are issues.

Re: iGuidance 4.0 & Mogul
I too am using IGuidance 3.0 with my Mogul and using GPSGate and the internal GPS. It works great and I've had no problems at all. Before I got the Mogul I was using it with my PPC6700 and with WiMO 6 I got the suddenly quiting, etc errors. No problem with the Mogul though.
Of course now I have this really nice ITrek Z1 GPS that I don't have any use for....Guess I'll try to EBay it. |

Re: iGuidance 4.0 & Mogul
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17032
This is the official thread for GPS issues and the Mogul. iGuidance 4 works great with GPSgate and holux GPS viewer.... see clipping of post below iNav iGuidance: Requires software such as "Holux GPS Viewer" to start the GPS. Requires 1.3GB of storage space for North American mapping data. GPS seems to be detected (icon turns green), but will rarely refresh the screen with updated location data. This issue is discussed HERE, HERE, and in this thread. I remember having problems with iGuidance before, when targeting it to the Microsoft GPS redirector port with my Bluetooth GPS. I had to point iGuidance directly to the Bluetooth COM port. This seems to be a problem with iNav's inability to work properly with the Microsoft GPS redirector driver. Customers should shoot off an email to INav, so that hopefully they can fix this issue. A workaround is to install a different redirector, such as Franson GpsGate. Once installed GpsGate installs a tray icon in your Today screen (red or green icon in lower right hand corner of the Today screen). Tap the tray icon, and choose the "Settings" menu item. On the "Input" tab set it to "COM4". On the "Output" tab, choose "Virtual COM Port" under the "Add output" section, and press the "Add" button. Set the "Virtual port" to an available COM port, such as "COM2". Press the "OK" button. On the "Input" tab press the "Open" button. In iGuidance: Go to the "Tools" menu, and choose the "GPS Options" submenu, then choose the "COM Port" submenu item. Set it to the same port you used for your "Virtual Port" (COM2 in the example above). Go to the "Tools" menu, and choose the "GPS Options" submenu, then choose the "Baud Rate" submenu item. Set it to "4800". A freeware alternative to GpsGate, named GPSProxy, is available HERE. (untested) I created an iGuidance one tap autolauncher. If GpsGate is not running, it starts it. The script then stores your device's current power timeout, and backlight timeout and brightness settings. Then sets your device for no timeouts for power and backlight, and sets your backlight to maximum brightness. It then sets iGuidance to skip the startup warning dialog, before launching iGuidance through AstroGPSLauncher. Once you exit iGuidance the script will restore your previous backlight/power settings. The only thing not working in the script right now is that it doesn't terminate GpsGate on exit if the script started GpsGate. I have not found a reliable way to close GpsGate. All current methods I've tried of closing/terminating GpsGate leave an unresponsive icon in the tray of the Today screen. For those who are interested, I've made a copy of this script available for download HERE. Instructions on how to install/use the script are in the included "iGuidanceInternalGPSLauncher.mscr" Mortscript file. |

Re: iGuidance 4.0 & Mogul
I've used TomTom, iGuidance, and Garmin Mobile XT.
I liked the TTS capability of iGuidance, but the interface was way too hard to use and the fact that 1.2GB is required for maps is not good. Garmin uses the same updated maps (Navteq), has traffic, good interface, and works perfectly with the Mogul's internal GPS without any hacks or workarounds. |

Re: iGuidance 4.0 & Mogul
Just as a little update, I used iGuidance 4.0 for a week with the internal GPS and GPSGate. It worked, but not as flawlessly as my Holux M-1200 Bluetooth GPS. The internal GPS would occasionally seem to lose its position and have to re-sync up and I'd have to wait a minute or so before iGuidance would show the right position again. That never happened with my M-1200. It was absolutely usable and most of the time was perfectly fine, just slightly annoying to have to wait for updates every once in a while.
As others have said, I have the software in main memory and the maps on a memory card and it works perfectly. |

Re: iGuidance 4.0 & Mogul
I remember getting Garmin to work on my mogul about a year ago. The problem I found was that the GPS was laggy. Like by the time it told u to turn you had already p***** the street. I did like the traffic reports etc.
Currently running TomTom 7. |

Re: iGuidance 4.0 & Mogul
Hmmm...I don't have iguidance on mine, but why would you need another GPS receiver if the Mogul already has GPS in it?
