You can retrieve the MSL for your phone by using the GetSPC application. It's essentially a keygen that calculates what the MSL should be from the hexadecimal ESN (case-sensitive). You can download it from HERE. Otherwise you can call Sprint technical support, tell them you're a developer, and you need the MSL number for your phone.
Hey TalynOne, The link for the GetSPC didn't work for me. Can you provide it again. (page cannot be found error)

Thanks,

Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul

I need help. I'm following this process step by step on my mogul, and I've hit a snag...

Quote:
Setting PAM (Phone As Modem) as the default dial-up connection
  1. Go to Start->Settings->"Connections" tab
  2. Select the "Connections" applet
  3. On the "Tasks" tab, select "Manage existing connections"
  4. On the "Modem" tab, make sure the "Phone as Modem" radio button is selected
  5. Press "OK" to save your changes
I don't have "Phone as a Modem" listed under existing connections--and I've completed the previous steps. Help?

I believe if your connection shows up as "Sprint PCS" with #777 then you wouldn't need to do this step. I think, but not sure, that the "phone as modem" shows up on the old PPC-6700. You shouldnt have to do this, just follow the rest of the instructions and you should be fine.

Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul

This was an excellent post, the only suggestion I have would be to reorganize so that the order of steps in the summary matches the detailed order.

I got this working without any problems, except: I don't have Phone as Modem as an option so I had to use Sprint PCS. I was unable to remove the "Extension" from the registry although thats not related. It also seems to always want to install drivers (on my XP box) whenever I try to connect even though I already installed the drivers, and it works.

The bad news is, its dog slow. The fastest upload speed I've gotten is a little under 100kbs, and the fastest download speed is a little over 300kbps, with an average speed of under 200. Latency varies from about 90 to 300 ms. The phone is as far from the computer as the USB cable will allow and I've tried multiple positions. The USB connection claims to be at 115.2kbps, I can adjust this up to 900kbps but it doesnt' seem to help.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Tutorial: USB DUN with "Wireless Modem" app on HTC Mogul

I would check and see if your REV A settings is set to "enabled" You do this by using your dialer and pressing ##778# and enter your unlock code. If its enabled, set it to Disabled and try your connection once again. Hope this helps. Im sorry Im being vague on these instructions, its just that Im going by memory!!

EDIT ** I went and tried it. Press Dialer. Enter ##778# . click edit. Enter MSL Unlock code. Click on "View Info" and select Data Parameters. Make Sure Rev. A is Disabled. Follow Prompts.

TWIN
