Yeah there was some odd freezing using the WM5 ROM.

Also, when plugging the phone into the USB to flash back to an official ROM, the phone would freeze every single time I ran the rom updater and it reached "Verifying info on the device".

I had to do a hard reset, then flash the ROM.

Well guinea pigs keep us updated. I may take the WM5 plunge soon. Just becoming a pain in the ass flashing and reinstalling everything. I'm looking for decent bluetooth operation for phone use, when I want to listen to music I dont mind putting the wired headset on. All the software I use (which isnt much) is meant for WM5 and just so happens to work on WM6. I dont need a "pretty" screen, just a well working business solution.... Thanks to all that have taken the plunge and are keeping us updated.

The wm5 screen doesnt look that bad actually. And if you run wm5+ wisbar advance 3 + whatever awesome theme you still have more ram free than WM6 by a long shot.

I never thought of going to WM5 but now I would like to give it a try. Anyway this will be only one out of many ROM flashes I do. The worst case is to flash back to WM6. Before doing that, I hope that someone can answer the following questions:

1. Is the BT working fine?
2. Does the alarm issue exist in WM5?
3. Can I use HTC home/customizer, touch skin dialer, audio manager and comm manager with WM5?
4. How's the battery life compared to WM6?

Thank you in advance.

I've been running samsons R01 for a couple of days now and I have to say I'm far more satisfied with it than with any ROM of wm6 I've tried. Far more memory, far more stable (I used to have to soft reset multiple times a day and lucky to go a week without a hard reset). I like the vista theme shown here, fixes the rough edges of wm5. I had to go back and install office, but it wasn't hard to find.

Instead of using a backup program for PIM data, I recommend using a personal exchange server, has saved me A LOT of trouble over the many, many hard resets I've had to do. Check out live.mail2web.com, PM me if you have any questions. Anyway, this has been great I was getting pretty frustrated and my wife was telling me weekly to take it back to sprint.

- works great, no complaints and the volume seems to be higher.

- the comm manager (10 button) with one fix registry fix for wifi
- haven't tried any of the others, but I believe people were using HTC home for the 6700, I'd look up that version
- a bit scared to play with the touch skin dialer, I use SPB Mobile Shell and those two just don't get a long

- seems to be improved, I'll need another week or so to say for sure, but at the moment my phone's at 100%, granted just minor web use over the day, but even that would have me at 80% by now in WM6.

Okay, so I sucked it up and installed the HTC dialer skin, works, but it doesn't add back smart dialing. I have to say that's the thing I miss most, mostly a habit really. I should just go to contacts.

Still using WM6, I use the "X Button" application/tool, so when I "X" a progam it actually closes out of memory.
Going back a rev is attractive for speed, but scary for what new features I would be giving up... Thanks for posting your experiences!

htc x-button works in WM5 as well. major thing you'd be giving up is smart dialing
