I got the best story.
In 2001 when I got the XDA from T-Mob. I went into a radioshak to see if I could order accessories for the phone. There was a guy and gal at the counter. I asked "Do you have any accessories for the XDA?" RS Rep "What's an XDA?" Me "It's a smartphone" RS guy and gallaughed out loud at my face. "Sir we don't carry dumb phones" I smiled despite their rudeness. I pulled out my XDA and showed them some clips fromMS Sync n Go. I think it was a clip of the today show. I heard the guy mutter "Oh Sh*t". I walked out the store with a smirk. They were totally stoked. Back then watching TV on a phone was unheard of. |

Sampson, thats great! I'm totally jealous... I was telling folks in the chat room after this happened that I only wish I had the time to build a popular custom ROM like I originally wanted before dcd and yourself released "clean" ones.
Then I could peek over and say, "oh hey, I made that". ![]() Well, its good to know that this stuff is considered useful out there in the big ol scary "real" world! |

I've always had trouble coming up with the right answer cuz most people don't know the first thing about PPCs. Do I say its an HTC? Mogul? Titan? I like calling it a windows mobile device because they often ask me if its Sprint Only ("well, this one is, but there's an HTC phone for pretty much any service that's similar to this" "oh... what's an HTC?"). If I had a nickel for everytime someone asked "hey, is than an iphone?"...

I just tell them it's a Mogul - one of Sprint's newer smartphones. They will usually ask who makes it (most ppl I know with 8x25's don't know that HTC makes it) I just tell them HTC and say that they make the majority of smartphones for the major carriers nowadays. I ask them what carrier they have, list the phones, let them peck for a few seconds (I ride the bus/lightrail to work and back) and then go on my way.
Consider yourself lucky you never owned a Hitachi g1000 like I did. 9 times out of 10, if I pull it out in a new crowd of people, someone is going to make a comment about it. When I tell them I use it as a remote control for the TV (in addition to the other things it does), or monitor my apartment via webcam, that's when they usually crap themselves. |

Press the voice command button and say "Play Dream Theater", it opens up Media Player, begins playing my favorite progressive rock band, and then I press a button on my car stereo as the music "magically" jumps from the phone's tinny speaker to my car's audio system. "Stereo Bluetooth. Almost every phone with an MP3 player from the last 2 years has support for it. Except yours." Ok, enough of that, I'm hijacking my own topic! |
