I have been trying to get a connection for a day now with no sucess.
I have a Mogul and a laptop with XP installed on it. So far I have 1) Installed 0.8 zip --> Unzipped and ran the program with wifi switch off, then flip it on after connection is made to the cell network. (I have also tried it leaving the wifi swith on) 2) created an Ad-hock profile, with 192.168.0.1 and 255.255.255.0 static IP config 3) made sure PPC had the same static IP configuration 4) I have see the wireless network and sometimes will connect most times it fails to associate. When it does connect I can't get to the internet. I have tried Pinging 192.168.0.1 and it just keeps pinging without a hit. Help? |

Okay I'm confused. Do I need a registry editing program to get this program working? Or does the hack changes my registry for me? I need some more info....in dummy terms please.

My laptop was automatically throwing the windows firewall on when it connected to the ppc. The crazy part is on the general tab it was showing as "off". I went under advanced tab, network connection settings > settings and checked off all of the services and it worked after that. |

Okay.. yes you do need a reg editor to get the program working. What you do need to do is delete the RILphone.dll entry from the InternetSharing key initially, just so that ICS doesn't bitch and throw Error67 codes every time it connects. Search a bit if you want to find the info on where this key is at, as its been posted in several places.
Once that is setup... YOU MUST ONLY CREATE AN AD-HOC CONNECTION ON THE MOGUL. Also, you do NOT want to manually set the IP addy on the Mogul either. The WMWIFIROUTER program does this all for you. Leave the PC side of the connection alone for now. Once you have created the ad-hoc on the Mogul (make sure you change it to say "Connects to Work" not internet) simply run the WMWIFIROUTER program with the WIFI switch on. It should soft-disable the wifi while it changes settings, then soft-enable it when the registry is straight. Once the Mogul reports connected status, just search for it with your PC and connect. Easy as that! The PC will get an IP addy through DHCP. |

I get an "DHCP IP configuration is not supported for adhoc connection. Use static IP" message when I try to create an ADhock profile. If I "discover" the Mogul and I get the same "waiting for IP configuration" message
I changed my PPC to auto assign IP and switched my IEE 802.11b/g to Work instead of Internet Last edited by aggiematt1; 12-20-2007 at 06:27 PM. |

Ah.... I just realized that I had "Internet" when I previously set up the adhoc connection on the PPC. I looked at the wireless controller "IEEE 802.B/G" ect.
Thanks so much this is going to rock. Unless I get a $500 bill from sprint |

Wow, this would be awesome. I have an xv6800 I'd like to try testing it on. (And it would save me the $35 bucks PdaNet wants from me.)
It should work on a xv6800 if it works on a Mogul, right? |

The WmWiFiRouter program works on a LOT of different devices, because it is scripted to make the changes it needs to by checking your hardware first. It will definitely work on an XV6800.. HOWEVER, that device from what has been seen, doesn't have the Internet Sharing software included on it from the factory... Without that, there is no basis for WmWiFiRouter to work from... Go back a page or two on here, and check out the link for the program at XDA-DEV, they may be a little further along with it by now. Once ICS is installed and functional on the Verizon 6800, the program will be able to do its thing.
