Internet Sharing on the Imagio
Just like the tp2, the Imagio has the internet sharing executable in the windows directory on the phone. VZW just hasn't provided a link to it but that doesn't mean it can't be used for tethering. Its done the same way as on the tp2 so I'll just post those directions in this section.
First, make sure that you're running .net 3.5. If you aren't download it from below and move the cab to your phone and install. Then reset. Then download the file explore extension cab and move it to the phone and install. Reset again. Open File Explorer and ratchet down into the windows folder and look for the file named IntShrui (should be 21.9k). Click on and hold the stylus (or your finger if their small enough) until you get the options screen. Select the option to put the link into programs. That's all there is to it. Once you're done you can add it to the start screen or wherever and you'll have a link to internet sharing. R NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab File Explore Extention.CAB |

Re: Internet Sharing on the Imagio
Is this something you'll have to pay Verizon to use or is it just using free software to use what they would charge for otherwise (ala Google Maps vs. VZ Navigator)?

Re: Internet Sharing on the Imagio
you still have to pay to use the data. This is just a free way to tether rather than using verizons tethering software for 15 extra bucks a month. Also from what i understand this doesnt have a 5gb cap. so its truly unlimited.

Re: Internet Sharing on the Imagio
Here's another way of sharing your internet:
I'm using the HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing. It turns your phone into a wifi router. this modify version is integrated into the Comm Manager so makes it a lot easier to use. Here's how I got it to work on the imagio: 1. go to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543380 2. download and Install AssassinsLament_Wifi_Sharing_v1_1_1_2(Slot6).CAB 3. use a Registry editor and Modify this registy key "HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\" "SupportedFunctions" from value="0000006" to value="0000007" 4. reset device I used the Total Commander registry Editor. you can the download it at: http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.cab by changing the value to 7 it allows the Comm manager to show the wifi router on the 7 slot. Just make sure you get the Slot6 cab, because the slot count starts at 0. I been using it for about 2 days now without any problems. I 'm not sure if vzw would charge me extra for doing this. If for any reason you would like to uninstall it, use a task manager that show all the process running and kill commmanager.exe and connmgr.exe before trying the uninstall, otherwise the uninstall will fail. you can get Taskmanager 2.9. at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280104 |

I can connect my laptop to the new wireless network from my phone. My laptop connects and gets an IP address. But I cannot connect to the interent still - it just times out. I thought maybe it was because of DNS, but I cannot get anywhere by using the IP address either. I do have ICS working (via USB), but wanted to try wifi. EDIT: sorry, the WiFi method DOES indeed work for me. I just had to stop and start it a second time. Perhaps on the initial attempt something wasnt right. I been turning the wifi router on and off for about hour now. I was not able to duplicate your problem, but I did run into a few problems: 1.The wifi router option grayed out and wouldn't allow me to turn it off. 2.After turning the wifi router off, the data on the phone would not work. I was still able to call out fine. 3.wifi router was on and waiting for connection, but laptop was not able to connect. 4.laptop connected, but was not getting an IP address. disabling the wifi(if possible) and turning the phone off and on fix each one of these problem. I notice when I did the power-cycled with the wifi on, it took a lot longer for the phone to be responsible. This APP is buggy, but I been able to use it frequently. I should point out that this program was design for the Raphael(Sprint Touch Pro / Verizon XV6850), but after reading all those post, it seems to work well on all the newer models. |
