It sleeps when it's on AC current (the wall) not when it's plugged in to a computer (or some car chargers) and trickle charging. But rather than say all that it's just easier to say it doesn't charge when sleeping.

Re: Help - 100 awake. (NOT mms/sms)

What I'm thinking is that maybe there's a stock app that is causing the awake. Since rooted/custom ROMs remove some, that could do the trick.

I hear some Task managers seems to do so as well as when the unit is plugged in

Well that may be true about the task managers, but in my case it isn't. I only download a task manager once I'm at 100% Awake for quite some time to cancel out some programs.

Spare Parts doesn't do much anymore for me. It says my longest partial awake program is "System" ( I think ) at like 2 minutes, but my phone has been awake for 88 hours.

Re: Help - 100 awake. (NOT mms/sms)

Ok so my new experiment has resulted in 100% Awake time after around 32 hours. I downloaded the Stock RUU, hard reset the phone, and then installed the Stock RUU. When The phone started back up I skipped all the setup and simply waited for the phone to boot and then updated the firmware. The phone then went through the upgrade and restarted. After the restart I Hard reset again and then went through the setup Logging into google (syncing my contacts), Facebook, and Twitter. I then installed some programs in blocks:
1) Facebook, MySpace, Flixter Movies. Ran all the programs and then let it sit for a few hours
2) Google Voice, Last.FM and Pandora. Ran all programs and then let it sit for a few hours
3) Shazam, ShopSavvy, Barcode Scanner and LightningBug. Ran all programs and then let sit for a few hours
At this point my phone had been Up for 13 hours and the awake time was 18% again with moderate use. I went to sleep and plugged it in to charge. At 20 hours my awake time was like 12% so it slept during the night. I went about my day and only used Text messages and a few calls. I did set my alarm but I doubt that did it. Then around 32 hours or so All my contacts went missing. Then the phone started slowing down drastically and the Sync icon was at the top and gradually my contacts started coming back from Google over the next 20 minutes or so. On a hunch I checked my time and then turned it off for 10 minutes and then checked again and the awake time had moved up 10 minutes. I decided to charge and hit the sack and when I woke up my awake time was now at 45% and the phone refuses to go back to sleep.
I wonder a few things: Does this phone have a bug breaks the awake counter at X hours in certain manufactured dates or something?
Does the Google Sync break and then keep the phone awake at all times?
I am frustrated because I like to know answers. ANybody not having the awake issue but using Google for contact sync?

I only installed the above apps and do not use a Task Killer or Spare Parts

- Do a clean restore using stock RUU
- Do the sprint update
- Do not install any apps and use it for a few hours (unplugged!) and I guarantee you that you won't have 100% uptime.
- Once you have confirmed it's working, install your apps in groups at a time until you figure out which one is causing your problem.

Note:
- If you are plugged in then it won't sleep
- When you restart your phone it resets the % timer so it will always start at 100%
- When your phone boot up for the first time it won't start sleeping until you wake it up and then put it to sleep again.
I have been trying to trace down this problem for the last week. I guarantee you that its a bug. I don't install any extra apps and this happens. I performed a hard reset, sync gmail and HTC mail (exchange), and log into facebook. Within 1 day, the phone is back to 100% awake time. Someone said they cleared HTC mail and this fixed the problem, but it doesn't. I have tried clearing both gmail and HTC mail, soft reseting, and it still stays has the 100% awake time. I have also gone into application management and cleared the apps one at a time, reset, and checked awake time. The phone was still had the 100% awake issue. This also happened before the MR also because I used Handcent Sms.

I am glad I am not the only one having this issue. I have installed spare parts to view partial awake time, I don't this helps in my case because if you view the partial awake times, it doesn't add up to the time the phones been awake for. I think the partial awake time status works after the phone goes to sleep, then when the phone wakes up for an app, it records the time.

Someone here said it happened when just being logged into gmail. Has anyone had this awake problem while only using HTC mail? Has anyone had this issue without syncing to gmail and HTC mail?

I am tempted to do another hard reset and sync one mail client at a time to see if one of the mail clients is causing the issue.

This issue seems to happen after the phone is charged overnight (this could just be a coincidence). Is that what everyone else is experiencing?

Re: Help - 100 awake. (NOT mms/sms)

Here is my update. I have been able to get the 100% awake issue without logging into any applications or installing any programs. It will happen at random times, but is guaranteed to happen within two days. After one hard reset, the phone slept fine, but after charging overnight, it was back to being 100% awake. I performed another hard reset. The phone slept fine so I decided to charge it fully during the day. The phone still slept fine after a complete recharge. I left it on the charger overnight and it was still fine. Sometime today, the phone went back to 100% awake issue. I only placed a few calls, texted, and lightly used the browser.

So no matter what I do, the 100% awake issue will come back within two days. Since this is only happening to some people, it may be a certain built date, but that's only speculation.

Kernel version : 2.6.27-533ce29d
Build number : 1.56.651.2 CL85027
Software version : 1.56.651.2
Hardware version : 0002
PRI : 1.70_003
Build Date : 29/10/2009

Ggold, I'm in your same boat..

I really don't know what to say, I didn't have time over the weekend to visit a bestbuy (where I bought the phone) to exchange it. I will try and get it done before my 30 days.
