Voice Dialing (ASR)

Has anyone had any luck with Voice Dialing (Automatic Speech Recognition)? I've tried it and it won't pick up my voice at all.

Did you make sure to say something like "call brother mobile"? It wouldn't work for me when I didn't say mobile...

Yea, I tried a few things:

Call Home
Open Mail
Call Jodi Mobile

I'll give it another whirl tonight. I just seems like it's not actually hearing my voice for some reason.

Re: Voice Dialing (ASR)

That's weird. The only times it wouldn't work for me was when I wouldn't say mobile at the end.

Just an update. I tried using it again, and unless i hold the phone as if i was on a phone call, ASR doesn't even come close to what I'm saying. Even if i do hold it that way, it's still spotty.

Quite honestly, I probably won't use it anyway, I am just curious as to why it's not picking up what I'm saying at all.

On the other hand, using the speech to text function in Handcent works pretty decent and will get used very frequently by me.

+1 Handcent works well. Tied to tts its even more powerful! The voice recognition on all phones has been useless for me haha. I have to make a point to b very clear and pretty loud.

I installed the TTS and quickly uninstalled it. The voice creeped me the hell out!

I wouldn't use it anyway. I think the SST is way more useful, IMO.

My Dad uses voice recognition on his Mogul and looks like a fool when he does because half the time it never works so he has to do it 4 or 5 times. I always remind him that he could have done what he's trying to do 10 times over in the time it takes him to speak his command properly.

Haha it is weird, but coupled with speaking pad I use it to cuss at people for humor haha. My gfs dog will do what it says like get the ball or sit hahaha.

Stt is very useful you r correct!

That's funny. Sounds like something my dad would do hahaha.
