not that i know of by hardware besides shutting it off manualy.

another question... what is that slot over the microSD jack??? it looks like a sealed SIM card slot or something

Call Key + Menu Key + End Call Key = Restart / Reboot.

I just came across this. I don't have a Hero yet to try this. But, using the Hardware Keys, Hold down Call, End Call and Menu buttons at the same time. This should do a quick reboot or not do anything lol.

You can't save apps on your sd card yet. Your phone needs to be rooted first. No one yet has rooted the CDMA Hero. Once its rooted, you can use an app called AppsToSD to move apps to your storage card.

Most of the file manager apps let you back up your apps to memory card. I'm using Astro and it has that feature. Not sure about contacts but i'd be surprised if there wasn't an app for that as well. Trying searching through the market place.

But if you're on a google account you should have all your contacts backed up on gmail anyway.
