Re: Sprint Hero and Donut 1.6

Ok here goes, I went to her store to see her phone, and she did NOT have the 1.6. She also had NO explanation to why she said she DID it already! She called her manager, and the manager said it COULD be done via USB, but it had to be done at a Sprint Tech Center. So I went to one a couple miles away, and voila...nothing.... They said the software for this doesn't even exist...? They also said it would take like 2hrs to update via USB, so how would they know that if the software doesn't exist? Confused...? I am contacting HTC today to see what they have to say about it. I have heard that there is a zip file for this, but it is in LINUX instructions...? Can anyone confirm that?

So I am sorry to get everyone exicted, but its not like this thread didn't exist before I posted. I think you were all a little excited about this before.

HTC hasn't released the update yet for the hero. When they do, it will be on the Sprint/HTC website for us to download. Patience, grasshopper

just like anything else you just have to find the right person and make sure you do business with them any time you go in. the rep i had when i got my hero was pretty knowledgeable about the situation. i asked about it and specifically mentioned some people saying this and that then he explained everything

IMHO I'd rather sprint skip 1.6 unless its coming in 7 days or so, I'd rather see them work on an update to Android 2.0 and wait a bit longer...

I Third that, not having 1.6 or being to update to donut is kinda lame however if 2.0 is about to drop then better they work on getting that update out to us on time. I kinda feel as though HTC and Sprint did a Microsoft move rushed to give the people an incomplete package so they could take our money.

I fourth that. Given all the research I have done with the Srpint Rep, and speking with HTC tech peeps,, why not wait...? I don't really have any issues with my Hero that couldn't wait till 2.0...

The only issue I have with my Hero right now is there are only 24hrs in a day.....lol I would love 36...?

Re: Sprint Hero and Donut 1.6

2.0 is not coming soon. Sprint/HTC/Samsung are not working on an update to 2.0. Not because they don't want to, but because they can't. Moto/Verizon has exclusive access to the 2.0 branch.

Everyone else won't start working on their 2.0 update until Droid is released. So don't expect any updates for a few weeks after Droid is out if the Hero gets rooted, or possibly 1-2 months to get an official update.
