you don't get charged extra, your bill just gets a little crazy b/c say you change 2/3 of the way through the month then they charge 2/3 of your old plan and 1/3 of the new one, they just strike a balance between the 2 plans. if they'll activate it without the rate plan change i would wait til the 15, just to keep things easy but if they force you to change to activate i would probably wait til the 11th when you activate the new phone

What you mean by they'll strike a balance between the two plans? And they'll change the plan and everything at Best Buy right? I just don't want my discount being messed up or anything. And also I think the Hero might launch before actual date?

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

they strike a balance in price between the two plans so you get charged fairly and not the full amount for both.
they should be able to change the plan at best buy (we at radioshack can so i don't see why they couldn't) and in their activation system they can arrange for when to change the plan, immediately or at a future date
and my understanding is that the discount is assigned to the account not the plan so it should be safe even if you change rate plans

So there would be like two weird bills, then the third bill would be the actual one I would be receiving each month right? Sorry if I ask too many questions lol.

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

Did a chat with Best Buy Mobile Rep. This is what she told me? That a $15/month data plan is okay?

11:46 AM
XXXX:
Hello, at Best Buy you guys can change plans and stuff right? I was wondering because the Sprint HTC Hero is coming out soon so I'm going to need a plan change do to the requirements of this phone
11:48 AM
Tara:
yes we can do that and yes it is going to be in stores on OCt 11th and we are taking pre orders for the phon
11:49 AM
XXXX:
Yes I already pre-ordered. Okay so when they're activating the phone they'll tell me that I need a plan change correct?
11:49 AM
Tara:
all you will need is the simply everything
11:50 AM
XXXX:
Yea well I have a family plan so the Everything Data Family should work correct?
11:50 AM
Tara:
or you can just add the data to your plan which is 15 or 30 extra
11:51 AM
XXXX:
to my current plan so i wouldnt have to change?
11:52 AM
XXXX:
Are you sure about that? Because I've been hearing that this phone requires an Everything plan
11:54 AM
Tara:
yes but you already have text and talk right
11:55 AM
XXXX:
yes i already have that
11:56 AM
XXXX:
are you 100% sure that i will be able to activate that phone on my current plan with a $15/month data plan?
11:56 AM
Tara:

11:57 AM
XXXX:
whats the difference between the $15 and the 30?
11:57 AM
Tara:
Just called the store it would 15
11:58 AM
XXXX:

11:58 AM
Tara:
ye sif you are the only line getting that phone
11:59 AM
XXXX:
oh sounds great so i wouldnt have to add data to all my other lines on my family plan
12:01 PM
XXXX:
thats what your telling me correct?
12:01 PM
Tara:
that is correct
12:01 PM
Tara:
Are there any more questions that I can answer for you today?
12:02 PM
XXXX:

Ok, noticed something weird about these pictures of the "Hero" why does it have a bezel and the screen is not flush and towards the edge like the TP2? Or like this picture of the Hero? Seems awfully suspicious, considering the Hero is pure a "touch" screen phone, no stylus or keyboard... Could this be a prerelease test version?

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

I think it the picture is an optical illusion. Because the phone is lying at such an angle, and a flash was used, you are seeing the inside of the screen. In the 2nd screenshot posted by em2y0, notice the white square. The top line is straight, where the bezel, and the screen meet. If the screen was recessed, this line would actually be lower than the line on the bezel. The screen on the Hero is flush.

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

anyone have pic's comparing to the diamond? I love my diamond and its been good to me over the past year. I like how small but mighty it is.. these pics make the Hero look more like a touch pro in thickness..
