The BREW OS on the instinct has never been open out of the box, and the SDK, from what I have read, is not well documented, and locked down. Android is open source, and will be able to use virtually any android app that's out there. Why would Sprint embrace the open source OS, only to close it down? They don't do that with WM devices.

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

I see no way that sprint will not make this a simple everything phone. With that said I stay in the tp family and get the tp2. My hope are that they will develop a fully working port for android and us tp2 people will get the best of both worlds while keeping our grandfather (which i have) or SERO plans.

I don't see sprint ever forcing any wm phone to be on the simply everything plan so everyone wondering if the tp2 will be allowed on SERO shouldn't worry much.

Wow, that's great news that the Diamond 2 will have a 3.6" screen. I sold my TP while it was hot for $250. Now, it's going for $150 on craigslist. Glad I sold it when I did. I was just wondering which phone to get between the TP2 and Hero. I didn't even consider the Diamond 2 because of the 3.2" screen but now that I found out it will be a 3.6", that changes the game a whole lot. I may just get the Diamond 2 because I have a feeling that sprint will force a simply everything plan with the Hero, and the TP2 will just be too bulky with the physical kb. I wont miss the physical keyboard much due to the large screen of the Diamond 2. Ahhh.... decisions, decisions...

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

Sprint will NOT be upgrading the processor, or adding flash. It will be the exact same as the current version over the pond, just with a processor that supports CDMA.

Sprint's version should come with the recent update HTC released, to help with the lag from the Sense UI already installed. Hopefully.

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

The sprint reps around my way said that the hero was coming out on or around Oct. 6, and that she was getting it also. She also stated the sprint was NOT getting the D2 this year. For me next year is too late.

I got to play with the Sprint TP2 a week and a half ago and actually its a lot slimmer than i was expecting, its not by much but it is thinner than the TP but it is longer. Didn't really feel bulky at all
