Re: anyone in memphis wanna help me get root on htc hero

Sounds like the same method I used with flashrec. Have you tried looking at this thread on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584029
Follow each instruction and you should be able to root your Hero with no problems. Took me about 2 min. Also if your able to get your phone rooted make sure you do a factory reset from RA before you flash your new rom. I didn't do it the first time and it kept freezing after the boot screen. Hope this helps

Yes that is the one I followed and got stuck at #6. I have also read others saying the same thing...............I power-down and start up but get a exclamation and phone ICON and no one can answer what I'm doing wrong.

It's OK guys..........what seems easy to you isnt easy to everyone. The vidoe and the steps dont match up and I'm only 3 days away from just pressing a button to upgrade...I HOPE.

The reason you can't root using the methods we all used is because you have a cell south hero. It is different software and therefore the same vulnerabilities don't work on it.

You need to follow the cell south rooting guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581869

Not to scare you off but it is much more work than for the sprint hero. But it is definitely possible, you just haven't been using the right instructions.

Huh, Well thats good to know. I'd never even heard of Cell South till today. Up until now I thought this was a Sprint phone. Sorry for the bad advice. Guess I should have read a little closer. Thanks for the info Flipzmode
