Re: hero might get 4g?

yeah on that better battery thing, thought in the beginning (early 0 when talk of the snapdragon processor was being thrown around, things were said like cause of the efficiency of the new processor, the ability to watch 720p video on phone for like 7ish hours, and listen to music for 10ish days straight. what ever happened there? off topic but I had to ask

Is this sarcasm? It has to be. There are no 4G phones in existence, at all.

2.1 is old and stale? There is, what, 1 phone on the market that uses it? It actually looks like the Hero may be the first phone in the world to get a 2.1 update.

Re: hero might get 4g?

I think he means old and stale as in....many of the features incorperated into other phones with 2.1 will not be present in the Hero. Live wallpaprers, flash, etc.

Re: hero might get 4g?

Would a 4g tower be backwards compatible with 3g? My area is 1x (bleh) and I was wondering if a 4G tower went up if my Hero would at least get EvDo?

Think of it this way:

Cost to maintain a customer = x amount of dollars

Cost to get new customers = 5(x amount of dollars)

They will never screw the people who stick with them to the point where their phone will be unusable. Backwards compatibility is an industry standard.

Re: hero might get 4g?

I look at it this way: Having the hero requires an everything plus plan.

With that plan, you qualify for big upgrades yearly. The most you'll ever have to wait for a new device is 12 months. Not a big deal IMO.

I understand the costs of getting new customers, but I don't think Sprint does. I was just wondering if a 4g tower would enable 3g for its area as well, or just force us to upgrade to new phones to get 4g. The reason I asked was the Wal-Mart 4g tower rumor - my area doesn't have a 3g tower but we do have a Wal-Mart.
