hero might get 4g?

do you guys think our heros will get a 4g upgrade at all? i mean we are currently debating this over on xda. we know sprint is working on rolling out 4g and it wouldn't make sense for most of the newer "current" phones not to support it. could it be our current radio chips support it but it may just require a radio upgrade to unlock the feature?

or... we will we have to buy a new phone?

thoughts???

Re: hero might get 4g?

Well I remember reading from sprint that they are releasing their first 4g compatible device in the next couple months. I would have to say that if the Hero was 4g compatible, they would have been advertising that like crazy to get more people to buy them and they would have said that the Hero was their first 4g compatible device. I hope that my Hero is 4g ready, but I doubt it. 4g is already available where I am and in many other cities, so I think they would have unlocked that feature by now.

yea CODkill is about dead on, the hero is not capable of 4G. Sprint has been contacting manufactures to embed this in their devices, but nothing at this time. Rumored within the next month, Sprint's 4G device will be LG Prada 3 with android of course..Just a rumor..but I am a Sprint rep, and this rumor came from corp.

The Hero does not have the hardware required for WiMax or LTE. The Hero does not and will never have 4G.

Damn, that suck ,not only do hero owners have to wait for a 2.1 update ...which will be old by the time we do receive it considering ginger is on it's way down the food-alphabit chain. It wont even matter because now the phone wont be 4G? what the F@$KNuts!

Well look at it this way. By time 4G is rolled out enough to be useful to the majority of sprint's customers, the Hero will be old news and we'll all be using something much better. we will also be impatiently awaiting an upgrade for that device, and complaining about how the other carriers have cooler phones. some things never change.

Yeah. I'll have upgraded twice by then, using that new phone to watch the MWC live and set up another savings account to pay for the next one.

No 4G on the Hero for sure, but you could get an Overdrive and rock 4G on the Hero or basically any other WiFi enabled device. That is of course if you wanted to shell out an extra $60/mo for the 4G access and if you can find one in stock somewhere.

Yeah, I'm just hoping to god they start upgrading the friggin batteries. With bigger processors, and heavier internet traffic, I think sooner or later it is going to have to happen.
